He knows that no one else wanted to hire this guy as head coach and that if he was Ed Orgeron from Topeka, Kansas or Tallahassee, Florida instead of Ed Orgeron from Larose, Louisiana he wouldn’t be the head coach of LSU.

Why would you use 2011 and not 2007 if you want to talk about les miles and lucky breaks?
What an odd post.

It's definetly possible. With great recruiting and a great supporting cast it can be done. He's been a part of championship programs. I love how some on the rant act as if Lester was anything diff than Ed.

Uh...he was?
Les Miles got Ok St to a few bowl games before coming here.No he didn’t win any conference titles at ok st but he proved, like Saban, that he could create a decent program at a state school living in the shadow of the flagship university in that state.
Orgeron went winless in conference play, something that’s only been done once or twice in the SEC since he did it 10 years ago.

Sure do realize that.....But what exactly about Studrawa’s Offense were you pleased with? Defense/HONEYBADGER carried that team. Period.
Just how is E an upgrade from stud?
Explain that to me real quick.

How many active D1 coaches have won a NC?
Saban, Jimbo, Meyer and Sweeney.
Anyone else?
It's very hard to win a NC. O probably won't do it, but a lot of others won't do it either.
There's no question O has to prove himself, but the idea that if you don't win it all then it's not a good season needs to go.
I remember when Saban took over here. We didn't judge the season on whether or not we were number one. Instead the goal was to compete in the SEC and win the West. We knew if we did that, we had a good team.
O needs to follow the same path. If he can compete in the SEC and win the West, he should be considered s good coach.
It's the process we should follow.

Most coaches in the Power 5 conferences will never win a NC.
Obviously though, Jimbo & Tom Herman will start winning them all if Nick ever hangs it up.

When Saban took over we had a losing record and hadn’t won the SEC since 1988, and hadn’t won a NC since desegregation.
Since then we’ve won 2 NCs played for a 3rd. Won 4 conference titles and won the division outright 5 times.
Our last 2 HC have won NCs.
This isn’t the same team Saban took over. Holding O to 2000 standards is fricking dumb.
Applying the same process as we did with Saban will not make the program better. It’s a huge step back. He has the same standards Les had when he took over the program.

a. the Saban-personnel issue, which negated the recruiting point
b. people were claiming 2011 was a historic team while ignoring all the luckboxing we did that year. i made many threads trying to temper expectations about 2011 in real time and people wouldn't hear it. nobody regards 2007 as historic, even though we won a natty (that's another discussion). when 2011's luck ran out, we were literally embarrassed by a team with even talent

Miles won one and almost won another, so yes it is possible. It was about fifty years between Dietzel and Saban.
This season will be a good indicator of our/Orgeron's future so let it play out.

add in about 800 lucky breaks against Bama in the regular season and the refs not giving UGA the ball back on the TM7 punt return/fumble
Didn’t he toss it out of bounds before the end zone? Why would UGA get it?

It went out through the endzone, hence it would be a touchback

Of this group, Larry Coker is the only one that is truly awful and someone I would put on the same level as Orgeron. I'd even say Orgeron's better than him because of recruiting.
Everyone has a non-interim record of at least .500 or better, so O doesn't compare favorably to any of them except Coker, just because we could see Miami fall apart every year he was there.

thats dumb.
Miles was in year 3 in 2007. he was hired january 2005. sheer common sense dictates that over half that team was recruited by Miles.

people didnt want to hear you telling them to temper expectations after beating one conference champ on a neutral field by double digits?
or beating another conference champ in their stadium by 21?
I understand if you had cause for concern going into the NCG after the SECCG vs UGA, but if you were trying to tell people to temper expecations between september and november youre a doofus maloofus.

I'm sure tennessee fans thought they had no power over Greg Schiano getting hired.
Why do you think you have pundits talking about O's seat being warm?
I'll give you a hint, its not because the admins are putting the pressure on him.

According to his SEC media day introduction, he already has 2.

Will Ed Orgeron ever win a National Championship?
that's a question that cant be answered at this time. Same as couldn't be answered about any of our previous championship winning coaches prior to their tenures either.
could have asked the same question before Archer, Hallman, DiNardo, Saban, or Miles. It's unknowable.
while there are probabilities , it's just biased speculation by those with agendas to push and with no actual knowledge or abilities

Chiz sucks too.
If people want to make the point that even shitty coaches can have enough talent to win a NC I’ll listen. But he can to start recruiting top classes and gam changers.
