option 3... stop caring about college sports. I love sports, particular at the collegiate level.

Right... so you'll never gonna watch a down of LSU football again? Like those baws who were never gonna watch the NFL again cause Kapernick kneeled?

I’ll watch it forever, I won’t pay a billion dollar companies employees directly though.

The team will suck if the fans don’t contribute. So take that for what you will. It’s your choice. But if enough people think like you, they will suck. If you’re ok with that, carry on.

I naively thought this was the reason bayou traditions merged with TAF. I honestly think that the big donors just aren't sold on kelly as a coach. That maybe off base completely, but every year there's been something that plagued the team all year long.

In 2022, special teams was an abortion the whole season. In 2023, the defense was shite all year long. This past year, the defense improved a little but it wasn't hard to improve on 2023. This year, the offense never seemed to have an identity. No running game and nuts having to throw the ball on every down. The team never really improved throughout the season.

The team that played USC would have also beaten vandy and oklahoma at home. Lost to a 3 loss Bama at home, at night by 29 points. In no world should a team come into death valley and make LSU look like a tomato can. If it was a big time donor, I'd probably have reservations as well.

The attractiveness of the job is diminishing if we can’t keep up with NIL like many claim.
if you want to compete, you have to pay. If that stadium isn’t full, all those other sports will not be supported. You kill, WBB for damn sure. It lost 7MM last year. Then there is track, Soccer, Swimming, etc.

If you want LSU to be good to great at all sports, you need to put up 10 a month, 20 a month, 100 a month. Anything you can afford.

I hate to break it to you, but prices are only going to increase now that revenue sharing is starting.

Yet they gamble all the time. I heard college kids talking about gambling at games this year.

College kids have no family, no mortgage, no responsibilities. Do I place bets on sports? Yep. Do you know how much cash I have deposited into my Caesars account? $20.

The OP asked for $100/month per fan. That’s not an insignificant ask.

But starting in 2025, they'll have revenue sharing and be able to pay out 20.5 million a year to student athletes.

What do you consider the LSU job

I don’t like his contract but I don’t have an issue with how much he’s paid.

I said in the original post, I like Brian Kelly. I was using his salary as an example of LSU having money.

It became a moot point because as someone pointed out, the university can’t contribute to NIL. Assuming I read that correctly

My frustration is not with BK or the money he makes. It’s with regular people like us being asked to donate to pay teenagers to come play football and make money that 90% could only dream of making.

Some of these recruits can make hundreds of thousands, even millions, suck arse and/or transfer and all that money was wasted.

Not to mention, I still have to pay for fricking parking, a ticket, and a $15 beer lol

My brother in Christ, I have never played a down for LSU football. We have no control over LSU being good or not.

It’s not our job.

maybe mega millionaire or billionaire. These kids don't deserve that money. This is their opportunity to earn big money, and if not, at least they can get a college education for free and special treatment. It is absurd, and just another bs agenda compliments of our political system. They wanted the black man to make the money. The sad thing is, if they earn it, they will get it, and maybe not deserve the amount of money they get in the pros, at least they will have earned it. As it is now, they earn nothing. Underwood becoming a multi millionaire before earning anything.

what we should do is get a collective nil for the brightest of the brightest to become cancer research doctors and cure that terrible disease. I could get on board with that, but not some uneducated gangsta making millions of unwarranted dollars.

My brother in Christ, I was replying to the call for the average fan to get involved so we can compete with the UGAs and Michigan’s of the world for the top players. There is a talent gap and that means LSU is behind.

Honestly I’m more pushing back on the seemingly flippant attitude of posters on this website saying “just $100/month. It’s a small ask” when for a lot of people it isn’t a small ask. If everyone in tiger stadium gave $10/month that would be nearly $12 MM/yr. That would be a pretty damn good war chest to utilize for NIL.

Secondarily, people should quit donating so much to TAF and divert those massive funds to NIL. The era of winning recruits over with a facility rated on a 99/100 versus a 95/100 facility is over. The schools need to meet the minimum requirements to compete and then have a robust collective/pay for play structure.

I am really curious how the guys who "hit the jackpot" in this recruiting cycle turn out. Will they still have the hunger to continue to improve their craft?

Or, will they just go through the motions since they have more money then their parents have made in all their lives.

This. Kids had to work through college and hone their craft for a big payday in the NFL. Now that entire step is eliminated. Giving large sums of money to unproven immature talent isn't probably a good idea. What will be their drive to improve?

If we're at a point that in order to be good the average fan has to pay more money to high school kids who will likely make a higher salary than them, and they have no real allegiance to the school....then I'm fine with us sucking. My life will go on fine with an average LSU team.

This has gotten absurd and is not college football.

Yeah I mean it feels like a lot of people are at that point and it is what it is. We may just be a mid tier program now.

Not our problem! If one of the donors to this NIL suddenly fell on hadd times, would LSU suddenly show up at their houses with a sack full of cash?
