. You need to actually show you are willing to run. If all you ever do is escape the pocket to just to throw, teams will never be forced to drop a man from coverage. He needs to run a few times a game, even if it's just a few yards.
You see that guy Penix Jr last night? He finished the season with negative yards and has his team in the NC. QBs don’t need to be runners. They need to be able to do what Nuss did in the bowl game. Scramble and keep your eyes down the field and find the open receiver.

he doesn't have to be Jayden but enough to keep the defense honest....he should be great.

THIS! Nuss should be full speed ahead working on his running game if he wants to be extraordinarily successful at QB, re TOP LEVEL competition. That Michigan defense would be all over him like they did the far better runner Milroe.

Will be interesting to see how Penix handles that.

I'd like to see him try to gain a few yards on some of the plays he throws the ball away.

THIS

I'd like to see him run with the same decisiveness as he throws it away.

Burrow had 368 rushing yards his last year and 399 the year before.

He wasn’t running

Burrow averaged a first down each time he scrambled. Crazy stat. Nuss doesn't have to do this. He is mobile in the pocket, and he has enough speed to pick up a few yards on a scramble. I don't see him getting any designed runs other than zone read with a rare keep. What is more important is that he knows hits HOT reads and outlets.

He’s as mobile as Burrow, which is more than enough.

Burrow was a dual threat QB recruit and ran for a shite ton of yards at LSU

Nuss is not that level of athlete when it comes to running. He is mobile enough though.

Burrow was damn mobile, quick and slippery. Took the sports media a while to pick up on it because his passing was so awesome.
I haven’t seen that level of mobility from Nuss yet, but he is mobile enough and likely moreso.

I don't want him running until we have a proven backup. He does fine, moving in the pocket to find a receiver.

They're all over milroe because he's a shitty QB that crumbles and makes mistakes with pressure.

Blitz a real pass threat and you leave people open.

Joe B’s runs won us a national championship.

Turning a 6 yard loss to even just a 4 yard gain is a sustainer.

Michigan is great on D, don't get me wrong.

But they could do this because Milroe is dogshit as a pocket passer. They just pinned their ears back and went after him, and tried to clog his running lanes

Oh no. Our fans will expect Hershel Walker running ability at QB now.

Burrow averaged about 28 yards rushing per game over two seasons at LSU.

Perhaps your definition of "shite ton" is different than mine.

That comes with experience. He certainly has the ability to run when needed. He's not a running QB, but neither was Burrow.

Nuss is more athletic than Quinn Ewers and he rushed for 54 yards last night. Ewers also rushed for 5 TDs this season.

In pocket mobility, maybe. As a threat to run when the pocket breaks down, not even close.

Saw a interview with him a few days ago and they asked him how fast he was. He said when they clocked everyone in fall camp he came in at 21 mph.

Penix will be fine. He is a pass first QB and his strength is his arm and decision making.
