So here it is...
We should all just be happy that LSU pays Les Miles $4 million per year regardless of his performance because Waco Tiger thinks he's a nice man.
This is a perfect example of how a topic on the Rant that gets sidetracked by Rex because he decides he wants to be clever.
You are engaging in exactly the type of behavior that the OP is referring to that ruins this board for a lot of people.

i'd say LSU football today is totally different than the dark ages because we've seen the promised land. we're no longer "the sleeping giant" program. we know what kind of product we can put on the field.
up until the early 2000's, you could look at the schedule and pick out the handful of games we had no chance to win simply because we weren't as talented as our opponent. that's no longer the case, and it's much harder for me to keep listening to people rationalize how we should be satisfied w/ less than stellar performances from teams w/ elite talent.

I,for one, am tired of the silent majority of our fan base making the majority of true LSU fans look like asses in the public arena.
So the silent majority of LSU fans makes the majority of True LSU fans look like asses? I'm confused. The silent majority is louder than the true majority? Are we excluding Minorities? I don't think that's allowed.

That's the key. The negative side is just as bad as the positive side. And vice versa.
Who cares.
The point is that a board with rules preventing the childish, meaningless, whining "Miles is an idiot" type of posts would actually lead to good discussion.
The Rant can stay the Rant for the people who just want to post whatever they want.

Less Miles is an arrogant yankee who is underchieving based on the talent he has.
I will never critcize our players even though I sometimes get angry at mistakes they make(like running into the kicker).
I don't pump sunshine , but that doesn't mean my love for LSU is any less than yours.
Well said.
no, not really... Seriously, what makes you say that Les Miles is arrogant? Of all the stuff people say about the man, he has never shown any arrogance...
What's with the Yankee horseshite? Is it 1862? Is it 1962? At this point, the only sensible use of the word "Yankee" is when discussing the baseball team from New York.

this, but i would go on a limb and say that the positive side is a bit worse, because they egg on the negative side and you know they are gonna respond. You rarely see a thread started by the "negative" that is about the positive people, , but it seems every post by the "positive" people are just complaining about the "negative" people. If they saw so much good in that game, start threads about that instead of threads bitching about the differing opinion.

To the OP.
I agree that there are "fans" on here that are just negative. No matter what you say they are going to be sarcastic and rude. I can do away with those guys. I do disagree with negative observations. If I see areas of improvement that need to be addressed then I like to "rant" about it because though it makes no change whatsoever on the field of play, it makes me feel better. I do try to be nicer about how I say things than some posters on here.

Why do you assume that people who are pissed off about what they see on the field don't support their team? Why is it that just because someone is unhappy with the product that is being put on the field, then that means they aren't a fan of the team or pull for their team any less?
My tirade is aimed at the over-the-top crowd. Coke, if you're over-the-top, then it is aimed squarely at you. I am not saying don't discuss issues, rather I am saying I respect those who keep it in check. Much of the time it is the lifeless sect who go overboard with it.

Lsu used to be the best rant around, but now most want a girly board if u don't agree with their point of view they want to ban u. At least the Bama & most other SEC rants u can say anything u want. They don't get their panties in a wad like our rant!

not to argue semantics , but I didn't capitalize yankee....the fact that I'm addressing this instead of the content means you probably missed the point.

ok, whatever. It seems to me that the point is that Miles was called arrogant, which he's not, and a yankee, which is irrelevant.

But IMO it's pretty damn telling that the same shite gets bitched about constantly
You got that right.
Haters never miss a chance to spin their propoganda. You'd think Coaches and players are running for political office.
Problem is nobody here can do anything to aleviate your fustration and you're wasting your fingertips.
How about you people write CLM, Alleva and Martin about your concerns.
Allow me to start a petition. Just sign below.
We the undersigned, occaisional fans of LSU, better known as The Rantards of Tigerdroppings:
A)Want to terminate the coaching staff with the best winning percentage in recent LSU history.
B)Want freshman players at all positions. Any kid we know nothing of is always better than what we have, as evidenced by the UNC win.
C) Want the 2nd team QB to start over the 1st team QB, no matter that his proficiency is less. Any QB on the bench is better than the one starting.(See B)
D) Want the gameplan and all playlists submitted to The Rant for evaluation 2 days before the kickoff of game playlists are designed for.
The Rant has no shortage of XBox experts and there are many adjustments Rantards can offer, such as the famous 55555Bump n Run Formation for the Defensive Line, and the Banghead Short Side Option for offense.

I disagree , but I do think that one is the product of the other(upbringing). For example throwing your kids under the bus when you make a mistake instead of owning it... I noticed that none of you has touched the meat of what I posted about underachieving given the talent.

To the OP - very well said, though I doubt it'll stop.
Why can't we just, as Tiger fans, admit three things:
1) most of us are from Louisiana. therefore we are passionate and prone to being unrealistic.
2) it is hard to see a team you love nearly blow a 20 point lead in any game
3) LSU showed grit to eeeek out a game that they nearly could have lost, a game that was adversely effected by turnovers, strange calls from officials, and mental breakdowns by players in key moments.
You can complain about plays and play calls all you want. But the coaches will always be more aware of the problems than anyone on here can be or will be.
Thus the OP is right. Support the team. Be glad they won. Be happy you are a Tiger. Why follow something if it makes you miserable?
