Exactly! Just got back and wife and I have sworn we will never do this bowl again unless it is in a different stadium. The neighborhood was horrible, the parking lots we paid for passes in were dirt and gravel lots ankle deep in mud, the stadium is horrible...We've done Chik-fil-A, Sugar, Independence, Cotton, etc. and all were better run bowls. I know they couldn't do anything about the weather, but they have to know that there is always a chance of rain that could affect a non-domed stadium bowl game and they should have done more (or anything at all) to plan for it. It just seems like the organizers and the City of Orlando rely completely on the payout and the theme parks to justify the Capital One's reputation as a premier bowl game and they don't do enough when it comes to the fan experience at the game itself. I agree with the previous post that said that barring some major changes, the Cotton Bowl is poised to take over the Capital One's spot in the pecking order. I was disappointed to hear from the bellman at our hotel that - according to him - the City of Orlando is not planning on building a new stadium, but instead it is planning yet another renovation of the old one, including synthetic turf. I don't know what can be done to improve that rusty eyesore with a renovation in one year. Worst bowl experience ever (of many).

I thought the field was fine
Fine for what? Sure a game was and could be played on it, but it was far from fine. Yes, PSU does play in cold, snowy and poor conditions, but there field has never been in the shape that the Citrus Bowl was in. They don't play high school championship games on Beaver Stadium, etc..

I'm old school. No one appreciates Vince Lombardi and the "cold November mud" and the John Facenda voice more than me. But this is the 21st century. We've progressed and I'm glad. NOBODY should have to play on a shitty field like that.
+1
DEFINITELY NOT in a National Bowl Game....
no excuse.....
games should be played in fields that neither add, nor detract from either one of the teams style of play.

"LSU has more speed and athleticism"
Pretty arrogant statement....I'll give you Holliday, but the remainder of the players matched up (Keep buying into the "SEC Speed" mantra that ESPN is feeding everyone.)Moye didn't seem to have too much of a problem pulling a double move on your faster defender for the TD completion.
"Due to conditions, LSU lost its edge with speed."
Had a feeling this would be brought up! If your "team speed" is consistantly faster than that of another opponent, it will manifest itself proportionally on any given playing field/condition. Or was the equalizer, as another poster put it, that PSU had their "Magic Big 10 Mudding Cleats" flown in from University Park just prior to the start of the game?!
Lastly...the infamous Personal Foul penalty!
Here's what really happened....Being that this "slow plodding Big 10 team" had not witnessed or played against the amazing speed and greater athleticism of an SEC team in a few years, and after fruitlessly and tiressly chasing it's opponent up and down the soggy field all day, it was time to take a nap. PSU's defender wearily tripped and landed on top of Lafell and quickly fell into a deep slumber. An LSU player was concerned after seeing that the PSU defender was face down in the mud and water and quickly flipped his foe on to his back (with SEC speed) to avoid drowning. He needs to be, somehow, rewarded, dont'cha think?
or maybe....just maybe...the better team won!

State punched LSU in the nose, and the Tigers couldn't take it
Except for the part where were down and came back to take the lead.
And the forced field goals from 1st and goal.
Yeah....except for that they REALLY punched us in the nose....
If you are gonna jump on the bash Tigers bandwagon, at least make it somewhat represent reality.

No doubt the Cotton Bowl should trump the Cap One Bowl in the bowl pecking order.
To the Cap One people. Time to move the sponsorship to the Cotton Bowl

I will never understand why a grown up person would ever do this except by mistake.
I have occasionally hit the CAPS key by mistake but try to fix it before posting.
For someone to purposely post shite like this just makes me think they are mentally retarded and I skip whatever they write - not worth the mental anguish of trying to read the shite.

Finding the dumbest statement on this board is like finding the most rotten fish in a barrel of rotten fricking fish.
But you did find a contender

Saying that field was "fine" is flat out stupid.
c'mon man, he said that but that was not what he meant. hopefully, you can figure that out. he meant that that field is NOT the reason we lost that game. we KNEW in advance what that field was going to be like. while it may have negated our speed advantage somewhat, our playcalling did NOT compensate. example: the the receivers have the advantage over the defenders on a muddy field. we have better receivers. duh! no passes to RB's. no passes to TE's. appearant inability to locate more than one WR downfield. what can i say? i am very discouraged with our offense. we blame JJ, we blame crowton, we blame the OL and we blame miles. one or more of those are the culprit (s). this is just a guess but i think crowton pre-scripts most plays and seems to not see the "overall" picture very well. i also think that our lack of a good running game puts all the pressure on JJ and he's simply not good enough of a QB to handle that (hopefully add "right now"). miles is, WITHOUT QUESTION, a CEO type coach, very much like mack brown. that's fine, but that puts an xtra load on his shoulders and that is the ability to determine what the frick is wrong, just like any executive in the business world. that is HIS job. he's betting his career on it so for his sake, he'd better nail it right. as far as LSU goes, we will survive, we will bounce back, we will return. we are LSU. it has always been so and always will.
