But the contract doesn’t give a timeframe as to when notice has to be officially given. It only says in writing to him before the contract expires.

First rule of negotiations my friend. NEVER SETTLE on full price. That’s as 101 as it gets. You make it hurt so bad that he wants to settle. You leak all kinds of stories to the news outlets and social media about his difficulties and his laziness and whatever else is out there until he just wants his name back. It’s time to get dirty with that lazy f’r that turned our program into a laughing stock. Now’s when the lawyers make their money and NOBODIES OFF LIMITS!
