The season was “cooked” on 10/26 in college station. When we left that game we had to win out and we all know that just wasn’t gonna happen .

8-4 gives you a better chance of hanging on to the #1 recruiting class in the country. You want to get back into the playoff picture? This class will help you get there.

Anyone recall players only meetings when Saban was coach here or at Bama?

We actually didn't. If we beat Florida like we should have we ONLY would need to win out and have Arkansas beat Mizzou which looks very very possible.

If that helps them finish 8-4, win the bowl game and set the younger guys up to be ready I’m all for it

This. Just because we're not going to make the playoff, doesn't mean these last 2 games don't matter.

I hope Penn + Williams are saying the team still needs to bust arse the rest of the year, win both games, win the bowl game and get to work over the summer, similar to how the 2019 did going into that year.

Yes and no

Yes

Just because we won't make playoffs, or a Natty, doesn't negate that there is a squad of seniors that want to make the best out of what they have. Some won't put on a helmet ever again for competitive football, and that means something to some players.

Damien Lewis on the Unitl Saturday podcast (rb at bama under Saban) talks all the time about sr players being leaders, holding young guys accountable, making sure they don’t cheat on workouts etc. Said it was made very clear what you could or couldn’t get away with. Thinks this bama teams lacks discipline, hasn’t been shy about it.

So yeah, I guarantee teams that Saban coached had lots of versions of “players only meetings” over the years.

Completely disagree. Big difference between finishing 8-4 with a chance to win a bowl to go 9-4 than finishing 6-6. Which at this point, is a distinct possibility.

The season is already a huge disappointment, but 6-6 would be a disaster that would really hurt the momentum of the program. They haven’t lived up to the LSU standard, but they owe it to the former—and future—players, to do their best to finish the season living up to it for at least the last 2 games.

This is always the nail in the coffin for a program self destructing. Never has a POM done any good.

No. Quite the opposite.

It usually means that players are stepping up to reinforce the coach's message.

BK has officially lost the team. How does a recruit see this and say “man I want to be there”

No it’s not - some of these kids have 3 games left and they’re done.
