Man, this conversation just makes me wish we hadn’t pushed for expansion the past 15 years. A lot of great SEC matchups are falling by the wayside.
Because of where we are geographically it seems like we’re more likely to be penalized and get stuck playing the A&Ms of the world.
I can’t imagine being stoked as a student to pack up the squad for a road trip up to Norman vs Tuscaloosa/Auburn/Oxford.

Sewanee, Georgia Tech, Tulane
All kidding aside, I actually wouldn’t mind playing GT and Tulane every now and then.

If A&M can do it, they will avoid Texas in any way possible. Texas is the reason why they left the Big X11. A&M joined the SEC to steer clear of Texas. Quite a few newspapers in Texas have articles about A&M never wanting to play Texas ever again. The Aggies had a breakdown when the SEC openly stated that OU and Texas would be admitted. If you read the articles Texas makes Bama look like a saint. One article in the Waco paper said that the SEC better put their seatbelts on because Texas will definitely challenge Bama for being the superior school in the SEC. The article ended by saying, Texas, the destroyer of conferences. Loo

I'm going to guess Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama

If SEC wants to have LSU play an SEC team last game
I seriously don’t know how big of a consideration this is for the SEC. Gotta think that eventually Oklahoma State and Oklahoma will want to play each other again. Was that a thanksgiving game every year?

They should really just cycle all teams against each other. Completely fair that way.
Agree but it’s a pipe dream. That’s sad because balance should matter most going forward. Baseball should do this as well. Permanent opponents in baseball is stupid

Texas and LSU are already slated as Aggies' permanent rivals, per the Houston Chronicle, with Miss St likely the third Aggie opponent

this makes sense but there are a few factors to consider
TAMU wants LSU and LSU needs a Texas school on the docket, this strengthens the Houston market for both schools
Houston is a TAMU, LSU, UT and UH Town
OU and LSU have no one to play at year’s end unless Bedlam comes back
BAMA is not going to accept three top tier permanent opponents
LSU and Ole Miss is historic
so I think LSU gets TAMU, OM, OU
one regional, one historic, one TV money game for the league

Of course it is. The league has to look at the whole picture and not just one school.
An alternative pod scenario is
Missouri
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Texas
Texas A&M
LSU
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
I don't think that the SEC would split up the Texas schools.

Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama/Arkansas would be my preference. We've been SEC all my life. I don’t want to get stuck playing a bunch of Southwest transplants.

A&M, Florida and Ole Miss

They aren’t doing a pod system. They announced it would be a 3-6 format. There is no 4 pods that would be satisfactory to the majority of conference schools. Your proposal excludes LSU-Alabama, LSU-A&M, Auburn-Georgia, and Texas-Arkansas. It also creates a ridiculously easy pod for LSU. That’s why it’s not happening.

There’s no reason LSU and Missouri couldn’t alternate playing Arkansas and Oklahoma. They don’t have to manipulate the permanent opponents just to create a forced “rivalry”.

Id rather bama to aggy. Dont want to be tied to ghey uncle
Posted on 8/23/25 at 4:15 pm to supatigah
I would prefer Arkansas over OU as our year end "rivalry" game.
I guess A&M, Ole Miss and Arkansas would be our best case scenario I guess.

Aggy and Ole Miss are locks. I can see any of Bama, Florida, and OU as the third. I hope it’s Florida.
