This would be a mediocre hire:

2017 - 38-21

2019 - 32-24
2020 - 10-5
2021 - 45-18
Should raise some red flags.
Definitely. Not the best candidate by a long shot. Arizona is a baseball school and he’s been pedestrian overall. Not even equall to Mainieri. This could tarnish Woodward’s legacy if he has to replace him in 4 years.

Expected since Vandy won. It’s not out of the question but I still feel like it’s Corbin and Woodward is controlled leaking as a courtesy to Corbin and his team.
I will not believe anything until Kendall Rogers reports it.

He seems like a younger Paul with no connections to this part of the country at all.
He has absolutely nothing in common with Paul Mainieri except that they both coach baseball.

Who wants to bet Jay Johnson will not be the next LSU baseball coach.

I like this nugget on Jay Johnson:
"Before his stint at Nevada, Johnson was the associate head coach at the University of San Diego from 2006-13. Previously, he coached at Point Loma Nazarene, serving as an assistant from 2002-04. He then took over the program as the head coach in 2005 and led the Sea Lions to a 37-16 record.
While at San Diego, Johnson helped the Toreros make six trips to NCAA postseason (2006-08, ‘10, 2012-13) and capture four West Coast Conference titles in 2007, ‘08, ‘10 and ‘13. He coached the 2013 Dick Howser Award winner, which honors the college baseball player of the year, in third baseman Kris Bryant. Bryant, a native of Las Vegas, was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2013 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
Johnson served as USD's hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. He helped recruit USD's 2008 class, which was ranked number one in the nation by Baseball America. The Toreros 2010 recruiting class was ranked second in the nation. In six of eight seasons, the Toreros ranked first in the WCC in overall team hitting."

He took over a team that hadn't even made the NCAA tournament the 3 seasons prior, and in year 1 brought them to the CWS finals with a roster of bandaid JUCO players. Those players then left and he had to go into rebuild mode. This season is the product of his rebuild mode. His roster is formidable and absolutely rakes.
He also took over a crappy Nevada program and in year 2 gave them their best record ever before being hired by Arizona.
He's a hell of a recruiter and coach. I'd rather Godwin or McDonnell, but this would be a good hire. You are an absolute moron with football and even worse with other sports. You should seriously abandon all posting about baseball.

I'm suddenly glad I'm leaving town for 4 days.
Maybe LSU will have a coach when I get back.

That was Kris Bryant's class. Tony Wolters was also in that class but signed out of high school.
