It looks like Rivers throws like JJ fwiw.

The part about Miles coaching the 2004 team.
sorry, def brain fart on my part there, but regardless, the first two quarterbacks under miles were pocket quarterbacks. flynn ran a few option plays here and there, but he wouldn't be considered a running qb.

If you kept reading you saw I was kidding.

Living in San Diego I watch a ton of Charger games, Stephen looks exactly like his older brother in the QB "mechanics" department. Both very awkward but they get the job done. I think his career at LSU will be very similar to Matt Flynn's.

I've watched a ton of tape on him as well as Randall. Randall will be a short side option beast...
Yes, but the tape that you were watching wasn't of a sufficient quality to have any recruiting value.
Sincerely,
Joe Schad

Rivers tape is very impressive he will defiantly start one day, his pocket presence and how well he stepped in to the pocket really impressed me for a highschool qb to do that as well as he did.
Also yes his throwing motion is pretty awkward looking. But if it works, don't mess with it to much imo

but unfortunately saban did after the first drive in the '04 Auburn game...one of the worst coaching decisions I've seen.

That's an oxymoron

That is a very high release...and he is 6'5

I am sorry u guys are so down on Rivers. The kid can really throw the ball. I have seen tapes on him & he was the MVP in the Miss. Al. high school all star game!

Payton Manning has the same high release and he is i belive 6'5. I think he will be just fine and maybe great.

We all know Miles prefers a guy that can run over a pocket passer, at least that's what he's told us the last 2 years.
Lee's decision makin in the passing game doesn't really give him an advantage over Jefferson in passing the ball. So Miles would rather use the guy who could also run and scramble.
If Miles had a legit reliable pocket passer Jefferson would rarely play and not start.
At the moment Mett and Rivers are so inexperienced that it is probably scary to the coaching staff to depend on the inexperiece QB again with what is looking like a promising year.

Without ever seeing him play ONE down, you say this !
Well, Mett hasn't played one down for LSU and he's assigned a 2 yr starter role, Rivers will never start no matter what he does, and the LSU starter 2-3 yrs away is being given to a guy still in HS.
Whatever happened to that open competition some were screaming bout???

I just find it so refreshing to have more QBs on the roster. Seems like all we have had to choose from were JJ and JL for like 20years now. LOL. With Berg, Rivers, and JR, it feels like we're back to diving with a full tank on our backs.

In that pic his throw is over the top, and elbow in front of the chest. Looks like he's not like his brother anymore on mechanics. Nice job Kragthorpe.
