Serious in the sense that it takes a year off, but there’s hardky ever a worry about if it will negativley affect a pitcher anymore.

Exactly. I was mostly agreeing with you. It is serious but after recovery these days the arm is good to go.

Replacing a ligament in the elbow of a pitcher isn’t a major surgery? That’s like saying an ACL year isn’t serious for a running back

Hess experiment

Hess wanting to prove his worth as a starter is the wild card.
I don’t think they are going to throw Walker straight into the fire. They will bring him along slowly and let him develop.
Marceaux is a weekend guy in my opinion. When baseball is Hill’s sole focus, he could potentially be a Friday night guy.
I love the idea of using Hilliard more than once a weekend, and you could use him in spot starts if necessary.
I’m trying to come up with some sort of rotation and I don’t have the slightest clue. If all these guys make it to campus we are absolutely loaded. If the rumors of Gilbert are true and he gets that shoulder right, you’re looking at yet another major plus arm as well.

It is major. But it's pretty rare that pitchers don't recover completely in this day and time

Two completely different operations for two completely different situations... this is a stupid take and you should feel horrible for it.

You could definitely be looking at a Florida or Vandy caliber staff next year
And my dick is harder than a concrete fencepost just thinking about it

quote:Nope. The surgery itself is crazy successful. It’s the rehab and training that fricks up shoulders. The elbow is 100% as soon as the bone heals around the tendon.

He will be full strength by the time fall ball rolls around... He will benmore than good to go by the time spring rolls around.

Hard to predict at this point. 9 possible options imo
Hess - Could move back to closer.
Walker - Returning from TJ surgery.
Hilliard - Should be 100% healthy.
Labas - Injured off & on. Good production when healthy.
Storz - Basically injured all of his freshman year.
Gilbert - Can he revert back to his 2017 form?
Jaden Hill - Still might sign.
Landon Marceaux - Looks good for LSU.
Cole Henry - Looks good for LSU.
After that, you still have 6 more incoming pitchers that could come out of nowhere like Hilliard did this year.

I hadn't read anything about him. I'll go back & edit the post. I just heard about Marceaux.
What other incoming freshman are looking good for us?

Walker should be 100% right now and he’s got an extra 7 months of regular routine. 11-12 months is recovery if no setbacks. Some crazy cases had guys throwing in a game 9 months after surgery but that’s irresponsible.

On paper this has to be our deepest staff in quite a while, not as front loaded as some in the past but loads of depth, especially when you can’t even call Hilliard a lock for one of the spots.

Agreed that Hilliard goes to midweek or out of the pen.
Labas
Storz
Walker
Hill
Marceaux
Henry
3 weekend spots. Duke it out!

Yep and I remember reading somewhere a month or so back that his rehab was ahead of schedule.
