I agree with you on most of your opinions across the board on many topics related to LSU athletics.
That being said, Miles lost me when he went for 2 in that situation. You're playing a team notorious for not scoring in the red zone and kicking FG's at the nation's best clip in history. There is over 18 minutes left in the game.
The alignment and clock management issues have been persistent, with no sign of improvement in five years time. I saw Alabama's big gaffe with 12 men when adding a defensive player into the mix, and I also saw Saban's reaction. So did Julio Jones.
How long did it take Julio to do something about it?
I don't really want to turn this response into a research paper, but I do feel we were beat on the sidelines worse than we were beat on the field. I can get into other examples of this if you wish, but they aren't necessarily criticisms of Miles and congrats to Saban, because I honestly don't think Miles has much say in what takes place on the field.

Going for 2 was not a dumb thing to do. Getting up by 7 vs. 6 is a by the book move. It was a little early (not much), but it certainly was within reason. I'm not saying there is no room for a different opinion, but Miles decision was reasonable and certainly not something that should have "lost you".
In fact, Saban going for 2 late in the game was an error of judgement IMO. It worked out for him because they made it, but there was significant risk involved. If they don't get it, they are only up by 4 meaning if LSU scores a TD, they need a FG to tie...not win. That was NOT a by the book move.

In this game, I simply disagree. I do think Saban is a better coach overall but in this game it was not evident. Also, the thought that a head coach has to be a coordinator in order to get credit for the results on the field is a misguided opinion IMO.
FYI, I sat in a suite with about 40 Alabama fans and they were very disappointed with Alabama's gameplan. They continually talked poorly about McElroy and there was a running joke from the 4 or 5 LSU fans there begging Bama to keep throwing the ball.
A lot of things circumstantially worked out for Bama late in that game that had nothing to do with coaching, IMO. In the end, Julio made a big play.

I agree Saban should have kicked the extra point.
I've since overly debated Miles' decision, and cannot be swayed from my belief that given the circumstances, it did not put his team in the best position to win. I have encountered others with opinions I respect that agree with you in this matter, too.
We got caught with our pants down on Julio's play. I don't care who you put out there on him, but if it's not PP at that point in the game, don't line him up 15 yards off the line, when you have been up in his face the whole game.
We begged Bama to throw to him on that play, and had McCray as his only help over the top. We were expecting run and probably would have gotten it, had we not lined up so unfortunately.
As far as Saban and their offensive gameplan in the first half, I've never really believed Saban does anything other than to not lose the game on that side of the ball. I was surprised to see their alignments and choice of plays. He was hoping to accomplish that, I presume.
As far as Miles getting credit for coordination or not, it really doesn't matter to me either. But, his attention to detail will never approach that of Saturday's adversary.

Saban was stupid for not running the ball from the beginning

How 'bout not having ONE timeout left in the second half with 11+ minutes left to go in the fourth quarter???........I "question" that along with many other coaching blunders.
i think it was OBU and i who were talking about this last week, how some of you figs will never give Miles the benefit if the doubt, will attack him no matter what. what about sean peyton? is he a good coach? smart? well sunday on the colston dropped TD, he took so long to decide if he wanted the replay that he had to call a timeout to do it. colston clearly dropped the ball, so peyton was charged another time out. i cannot even imagine what you pussies would be saying if miles had done that.
the football field is not some antiseptic lab with sterile conditions. mistakes happen. stop being such a jittery little bitch about everything.

this happened Sunday:
“We’re up by 5, it’s late in the third quarter, you kind of feel like that’s not going to be the last score in this game,” Belichick said. “So you could go up by 6, but then you kick a field goal and now you’re up by 9. Those things start to add up a little bit."
up by 5, he went for the 2 point conversion. i guess Belichick sucks too.

Apples and oranges.
Knowing your opponent and probabilities and how much time is left in the game.
I don't think anyone said anything about "sucks" but you.

You're a fricking idiot if you think Miles got out coached. We lost our starting QB, RB, and MLB. And, our best cover corner was battling cramps (which anyone in the medical field knows that it is not completely due to conditioning--it could be an electrolyte balance, dehydration, etc. etc.). We also got fricked by the refs.
If we don't lose all those valued starters -- we win.
If we don't get fricked by the refs -- we have a great shot at winning.
Miles called a good game, and you retards need to realize that he has done just as much for this program as Saban. Saban is a great coach, but Miles deserves some fricking respect because he is just as good as Saban...realize that and deal with it. Quit acting like the ex-girlfriend and realize that the "relationship" is over!!
+10,000. Everyone seems to forget some of the "adjustments" Saban made had a whole lot to do with our catastrophic injuries.

And Julio wasn't able to make a big play as long as Peterson was 100%. A lot of things fell their way to give them the win, not the least of which was the officiating. Our injuries were devastating ones.
