Did we watch the same game?

The only thing Clemson did in the first half was get a lucky fumble for a field goal and a touchdown drive that should've ended with a OPI penalty that was picked up even though it was a clear block in the back.

That is ALL Clemson did all game.

We were never winning. Go back to the post I responded to AND quoted for more context.

But to answer your question? No. We did not watch the same game.

Riveting take.

What did you like about the offensive play calling specifically in the first half and last 6 minutes of the game?

Bonus: do you have to be on the edge of your seat the last 6 minutes of the game if you kick the FG before half?

Yes. Add the 3 points at the end of the half and another 7 on the bad call.

But we weren’t in control when we were down 10-3. Those are facts.

Simply understand what im telling you.

This offense isnt gonna blow you out of the water, not yet.

If i sat you down and told you friday that LSU was going to score 17 , you would say "frick. Another shitty opener".

But that is NOT what we saw. Our players didnt actively avoid tackles. They WANTED to hit others. They were violent. They ran the QB down.

8 times, EIGHT TIMES i witnessed Tigers lunge at a running back and face tank all that momentum just to bring that fricker down.

Credit should go to Brian Kelly but let me fricking tell you that the lions share of the victory feast belongs to Blake fricking Baker.

I have not seen an LSU defense attack like that outside of that one special year in 2011. Not 2014. Not 2012. Yesterday.

We do not need a record breaking aerial assault to win this time. We need serviceable, and it will be so much more than that after a couple games.

That defense would have done damage in a playoff game TODAY.

I have never seen LSU flat out dominate a top 5 team like that defensively outside of , you guessed it, 2011.

It wasnt the stats (even though those were great), it was the fricking attitude.

Ill put the chips down, LSU will be in the playoff. Defense will win chanpionships again. We might not win it all. But holy frick, Saban is gone and one game in nobody else looked good enough to drop 28 on this squad.

Bookmark me, frick it.

frick it you frickin frick

Sorry dude that 2011 defense was better ! And I watched that 2003 defense they were very good but that 2011 unit was special ! That 2003 defense didn’t have a play maker that took the ball away from the other opponent damn near every game

I kind of expect it to be 100 against LA Tech.

I wants my Dawgs of ruston to look better than clemson. But I get 2019 lsu swagger vibes. Not a snowballs chance in hell for Tech.

You must've missed the 2019 SECCG against UGA.

I didn’t like the play calling in the last six minutes, but I loved the first half play calling.

They were on the road in an arena that often makes opponents lose composure. Clemson was playing two safeties high and taking away the downfield stuff. So Sloan took the short passes that were low risk and ran the ball a lot, relying on what they knew was a powerful defense.

And it worked great. We didn’t give them any cheap stuff except that one freak fumble when a tackler luckily punched the ball out. It gave our team time to settle in and tune out the atmosphere. Then we ground them up.

I agree with all of this actually. It seems (to me) that we get very conservative when we should be running clocks out and finishing games.

Also, open it up down the field. Nuss has athletes everywhere. Let the kid sling it.

The offense will get better. All they need is time. This defense barring injury is special

LSU was never in control of the first half. And half the 3rd quarter.

We outplayed them in both quarters but turnovers gave them points. Anyone that knows football could see that lsu was having more success on offense than clemson was.

hope we don’t sputter that much the entire seaso

Have you been watching offenses all over cfb? It's the 1st week of the season,on the road, against a defense littered with future nfl draft picks.

Have to figure out how to close out games
We did that or are you under the assumption lsu lost last nite?

That’s all great Mr Football know it all sports guy. We weren’t in “control” the score says otherwise.

Doesn’t change that this offense sputters out the game most games. I’m not alone in this. This is the same football game we’ve been watching for 4 years.

Are you saying we ran the ball down their throats and ran the clock out?
