I guess you think he's a great third base coach too huh? And I guess you thought Grewe was a good pitching coach.
I don't feel like arguing with you anymore. Good night

I think our base running is atrocious at times...although it seems to have gotten a lot better in recent weeks.
I think that someone who needs to change the subject is losing an argument.

Bunch of sunshine pumpers in here, you'll never be right with these guys.
Let's wait till the season ends and then we can talk. I'm gonna say it right now, this is NOT an Omaha caliber team. Go ahead and call me stupid and whatever else you want, we'll find out soon enough.
I guess I'm not a sunshine pumper then since my expectation before the season was to win the West and host a regional, with anything else being lagniappe.
What is it specifically that you don't like about his coaching of the hitters? The stats have been given and they're decent considering this team has no power and no speed.

Our hitting approach at the plate, most of the time, is TERRIBLE. That goes directly on the hitting coach.
Alright I'm seriously going to bed. I'll check your comments tomorrow.

What do you think the approach is? I see a lineup full of guys, with the exception of Jones most of the time, that consistently look to go back through the middle or to the opposite field....unless they work themselves into a favorable count. At that point they will look for something to cheat on and drive.
What exactly are you seeing?

I think he is stuck back in March when this team legitimately was having major issues at the plate. Since then, this team has improved a ton and one major area of improvement was the approach at the plate.

I think once Javi told the players that the field was split in half with two fielders on one side with two fielders on the other, they started hitting again.

No doubt about it. And I think the key source of the improved approach was being more selective and working deeper counts. All the while many of the posters here were screaming to swing at the first strike no matter what.

Did anyone here actually watch the video. All he said was that the most effective place to hit a line drive is right back down the pitchers throat because they are the weakest fielder and that working on your timing and driving with your legs keeps the ball up the middle and lower so you can get on base.

Do you think Javi has the skills and knowledge to be a hitting coach at a University such as LSU?
Nope, but I'm not going to unnecessarily bash him either....the hitting hasn't been that bad under his instruction, its mostly just a fallacy made up by people who have a problem with his lack of experience

i don't like javi either, but you have been critical since day 1 of this team, and all they have done is won ball games. I guess at some point you may be right. But they've done nothing but prove you wrong all season.

He also said there is a fine line between getting the ball to go up the middle versus at the 2B or SS. As he is apparently aware, that is why the diamond is positioned the way it is on the baseball field. It seems like we take this line drive up the middle approach to every at bat. The result is us leading the SEC in double plays. When he is done with The Basics of Baseball, I hope his next read is Situational Hitting for Dummies.

It's pretty ridiculous for folks to argue about Javy.
He's a below average coach compared to the rest of the experience and resumes on our staff other than Will My Parents Donated My Way Into A Meaningless Coaching Job I Don't Deserve After Donating My Way Into A Spot On The Team That I Also Didnt Deserv Before That Davis.
We've got two four year senior starters he didn't recruit that are hitting below .300, which is flat out inexcusable.
The kids he's recruited are wholly unimpressive as well. He has zero idea or ability evidently to identify talent and get it here.
He's also an absolutely atrocious 3rd Base Coach.
How anyone defends a guy like this when they see us winning all these 1 run games and us struggling at the plate is ridiculous.
We are OBVIOUSLY leaning on pitching, and it's starting to crack under the strain.
I'm not saying that there's some Major League Hitting Instructor out there just waiting to work for us. But we could easily make a huge upgrade in terms of coaching, technique, and especially recruiting.
Conversely, if he were let go, he'd be selling insurance next year come baseball season, or be in Grad School. Because he sure wouldn't be coaching.
Supporting the thought of keeping him here is keeping your head in the sand.
