quote:That might be the most sadly delusional comment on this board in a long, long time. The amount of criticism leveled at people who bash LSU players, coaches, etc., on this board pales in comparison to the scorn heaped on anyone who dares defend any LSU personality against the mob. Just compare the number of posters in this very thread who are bashing the hitting coach of the team that is 4th in batting average in the SEC (far above average for the hundreds of teams in college baseball) with what you yourself have described as "average" talent, to the number that are defending him.
I'm sure they're plenty of people who agree with me but are scared to say it because sunshine pumpers like yourself will jump down their throat
I don't know jack shite about baseball hitting, but I know that we have a coach who has won more CWS than everyone on this board put together, and he has chosen a guy to be his hitting coach, and that guy has the best hitter in college baseball (who, contrary to the delusions of some rantards, was not the best hitter when he left LSU-E; just check his BA last season), and has the team batting 4th best in the SEC (and that's in SEC play, btw), and -- most importantly -- has clinched the SEC West, is 1 game out of the SEC Championship, and is likely one series win away from hosting a Super Regional.
Now, anyone who looks at that and concludes that they -- an amateur dipshit message board poster that has no clue in hell how to teach batting at the college level -- are in a position to rationally conclude that Javi sucks as a hitting coach, is being far more irrational (and clueless) than any so-called "sunshine pumper" I've ever seen on this thread.
The closest thing to a rational negative comment someone as clueless as the posters on this board could possibly make about Javi Sanchez as a hitting coach is that there are almost certainly better ones out there. Anything beyond that is simply bitching for the sake of bitching, either because they are pathologically compelled to negativity or they think it makes them sound "cooler" than fans who speak well of their team (which are the lamest kind of all the lame "cool people").

Do you think this team is above average from a talent standpoint at the plate?
Not even close

Why are our hitting rankings so good in the best conference in America if we have average to below average hitting talent? Please explain.

Because we have the best hitting coach in America.

In one post you agree Nola has the best approach on the team and in another you say his average should be higher, which I took as a knock on the hitting coach. Did I misunderstand, or are you just being inconsistent?

Nola's average has nothing to do with his approach at the plate.

You guys are nitpicking now, frick you all.

EXPLAIN our hitting rankings. You can't without giving Javi credit can you? You suck. GTFO.

This shows me how smart you are about the game. How does his average reflect his approach at the plate?
Lets say he's hitting .300 and 40 of his 70 outs were hit on a line right at someone. His average could easily be at .400 or more.

Because of the reasons you just mentioned explain to me why his average not being higher is the fault of the hitting coach.

The stats/rankings I provided were for the whole team for the entire season. I am not talking about a single particular player. Explain to me how we are in the top 4 in nearly every hitting category in the hardest league in America with average to below average talent. You put yourself into a corner bud. You can't explain that.
Posted on 5/17/12 at 2:50 pm to Mickey Goldmill
I already told you it's because we have one of the better hitting coaches in America.

I'm gonna say it right now, this is NOT an Omaha caliber team. Go ahead and call me stupid and whatever else you want, we'll find out soon enough.
HE is no fan of LSU. He is no coach. He can't answer a single question, so I doubt he ever played college ball. And, he can't wait to "find out soon enough." Pathetic.
