It’s okay to recognize that someone made a terrible mistake, especially when they were young and didn’t fully understand and anticipate what their decision led to. It’s also okay to feel compassion—for Lacy, and for those hurt by his actions. May every soul involved find peace.

Oddly enough, I did not even know about this, but I was watching the in memoriam part of the ESPYs and I thought at first it was Demetrious Byrd..
He was the best returning receiver and a key figure and put on the show in the one game. I attended in 30 years the Ole Miss game I'm suddenly getting very sad just learning of this.

People hate him, but Les Miles as well. He kept in contact with TM7 and helped when he could. TM7 has spoken of how Les helped him after he was kicked off the team.

He didn't deserve to die. He had no clue that the person behind in that wreck was dead. He got scared for a wreck, but it was not with knowledge that there was a dead man left behind. He could've worked his way back, or did a Kayshon Boutte like comeback. Boutte is now a WR2 in the league. He had 600 yards last year, and only 70 yards behind WR1 on the Pats. Boutte has potential to be a WR1. He was obviously more talented than a 6th round pick. Lacy could've gone like 6th or 7th round, and likely become a WR1 for a team and highly, highly likely gotten to a 2nd contract.
Boutte had 500 yards in the 2nd half of the year.. It's like they figured out he's a huge talent. Because year 1 he had 19 yards. 1st half of year, he got target 1x a game. Then towards end he was getting 7 targets a game, so 2 passes a quarter. He has a good chance to be a 1,000 yard year WR and finish top 15 in NFL if he does same as 2nd half, all next year.
He'll likely get a 2nd contract and make $40 mil over 4 years. That could've been Lacy same path. It's never worth it no matter how bad your situation.

It really is crazy. Was listening to Hunt Palmer today and he was talking about TM7 and his journey from being at the top of the world at LSU, to getting kicked off the team and almost having his life completely derailed, only to redeem himself and learn from his past and I couldn’t help but think of Kyren Lacy. TM7 might not even be alive today if he didn’t commit to changing himself as a person. It’s a shame that Kyren Lacy couldn’t do the same.
Did I miss something with Tyrann or are we comparing someone smoking weed in college to homicide/you know?

He had no clue from turning behind in your car that someone died. He ran and indirectly caused an accident. But to obtusely say homicide when that is generally perceived as murder just shows how miserable you are.

Calm down Debra. Whatever you call it, it’s tragic. Maybe you meant manslaughter or hit & run (murder & homicide are the same thing).
Point was it’s wild to compare that to Tyrann’s situation.

No it’s not. I’m comparing two young people who had a golden opportunity ahead of them to make millions of dollars and made poor choices. One learned from their mistake and turned their life around while the other didn’t and suffered the consequences.

Couldn’t be more happy over how things turned out for Tyrann, and I get the sentiment. It’s a minor quibble, but your framing was a little dramatic IMO.
I’m going to stand by making a strong distinction between a hit & run vs. smoking weed in college. Only one of these involves the death of an innocent.

I understand. I smoked plenty of weed in my day. The only death it caused was the death of good judgment.

No idea why you’re getting downvoted. An entitled “kid” who didn’t give a shite about rules on the field and obviously off the field, flat out killed someone because of his selfishness.

What does that have to do with anything?
If he were a UGA WR, and had the victim of his stupidity been an LSU fan, I can assure you my post wouldn't have gotten any downvotes. Which is sad.
Again, I have no sympathy for Lacy. Sorry that a moral compass confuses you.

It was very clear to me that Lacy did not give one single frick about the consequences of his actions after the stunt he pulled during the USC game
Dude got a personal foul after a TD which directly led to great field position and points for the Trojans, and he sat on the sidelines bragging to his teammates about what he did on the field (AFTER getting chewed out by his coach) - dude wanted to live that street/thug life so bad when he didn’t have to

NIL as a contributing factor is a question worth asking.
Taking someone who never had experience with money and loading them up with it all at once has shown to be a bad combination.
Just look at all those lottery winners who wrecked themselves.
Maybe some training in financial responsibility should come along with the money.

I have zero sympathy for him and limited sympathy for the family that raised him.

This is the worst comment I have read in a while. You are quite the a-hole and should be banned. We don't need this type of bullshite on here. You have any facts to say these things?
