I was quoted about this in a USA TODAY ARTICLE
Back in 2007 when they banned "Oh weEh Oh"
Students are going to keep doing it regardless, they can keep coming up with new songs and the same thing is going to repeat itself. Screw the administrators, these bans are stupid.
First we lost the Tiger Rag
Then we lost Oh Wee Oh
Now Neck?????

Why the huge need to change every cheer or song to begin with? And Tiger Stadium continues to slip away.
To be fair, adding you suck to o we o really wasn't hurting anyone. I completely disagree with the banning if that one.
But all these morons changing the words to neck have ruined that one. And that makes me mad lol.

From the student section: it was pretty widespread especially after we got inside the 10 on the last drive. I was just thinking 'there goes Neck' the entire time

As for the 1st down cheer, 15% of the stadium says "Kick their arse" and 85% of the stadium says "LSU". Therefore, what the students say is not clearly heard on tv or in other parts of the stadium. When playing a song that only the students have chants/lyrics for, then it can be heard clearly.
Whatever the case, if students say vulgar things, it happens. But the band can't be viewed as leading the students into those vulgarities.

I'm sorry but What the hell is "Neck"? Is that the name of the song we play after we score? If not, what is it?

I am a student and the first I heard of "Suck that Tiger Dick" was during the Tennessee game, granted... I say "kick their arse" for the first down chant, but I mean this is getting ridiculous.
I agree, at this rate, the band will be silenced before the season is over.
Just sad...

Just a question, but where else are there problems w/ students changing the words to songs in games. I mean, we can't be the only ones w/ this problem.
I don't think most schools use their band alot, except for the fight song and maybe 4th down cheers. Don't most use piped in music during timeouts?

From my seats, never heard the student section say anything coherent. It was just a loud blob.
I agree. I'm in section 211 in the north endzone, and i couldn't hear anything remotely like "suck that tiger dick."

could this eventually lead to no first down cheer, etc?
I think the LSU offense's inability to make 1st downs will be the more likely scenario as to why there is no 1st down cheer.

Doesn't all the profanity come from the drunk frats? Why don't they just ban all the fraternities from attending one game and see what happens. I think that is where most of the problem lies.

when i was in school some folks also said "Make that first"... or at least that's what I heard from time to time. I try to mix it up based on how the game is going and the karmic balance.

The student section has definitely gone down hill over the last 3-4 years. I have no clue how we ended up with so many idiots in the student section all of the sudden.

I can petty much guarantee the only ones saying "suck that tiger dick" are Frats.
Sit far away from the Frats and you don't hear i. Sit close to them and it's clear as hell.
They're also the ones that add all the extra bs to every chant. Get rid of the Frats and that pretty much takes care of this problem.
