Covid is no excuse for guys looking like they started playing football the day before the game. Sure you could say that there should be some issues related to covid but when every player on the field looks lost on almost every play then you have a DC issue.

Florida and Alabama apparently have the same problems and they didnt even change schemes and actually returned starters

Some of you are completely blind and/or in denial. FL and Bama allowed a lot of yards and points, but looked to have players a step or two late covering or a bit our of position. LSU had WIDE arse OPEN WR's all night and big, gaping holes everywhere. Big difference between the two. LSU's D looks completely lost and out schemed, not a step behind or rusty.

Florida and Alabama played offenses that not only have top 20 offensive talent, Ole Miss has been unstoppable all year. It's like morons forgot that time when they brought in Chad Kelly and he was throwing to 4 and 5 star players and NFL level WRs and TEs.

Matt Corral was the 63 ranked player in the country and his leading WR (the #1 WR in yards per game this year) was the 202 ranked player. Jerrion Ealy was the 29th ranked player in 2019 (behind only LSU and Bama's RBs in rank). Yeoboah is a Temple transfer TE and 5th year senior.

I remember being so pissed after the ole miss game but after I calmed down I realized, we had several players playing very hurt, we just came off the bama game, and we jumped out to a 28 point lead and still won by 21 points.

Looking back at this game, Stingley is hurt, but we have been shredded by two modern offenses this year that were stifled/shut down by other teams with equal or lesser talent than ours, with arguably the second or 3rd best offense in the SEC coming up.

Go look up how many returning defensive starters Clemson has and then explain what we are witnessing with LSU.

I think Chavis' middle school team probably looks better on defense than whatever the hell were trying to do

You do make some points here. It is clearly possible that the team has been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. We need the testing numbers to be sure.

Go ahead and tell yourself that. Make all the excuses you want. What excuse will you come up with after week 6?

I think that’s partially true, because we aren’t the only ones having problems on defense. However, I saw a lot of half assed movement out there. Linebackers didn’t attack and ran behind almost all of their coverage assignments. The DL looked lethargic and show very little explosiveness off the ball. They didn’t even seem to try to get hands off of them. I’m more disappointed in what I saw as a lack of effort than I did missed assignments. These guys are young; they will make mistakes, but there’s no reason to look like you didn’t even want to be there.

Are you telling me arkansas and Kentucky have better players than LSU does?

of course not but teams with less talent usually play zone more than teams with better talent. Zone is the way to play against Leach offenses. That's my story and I am sticking to it...we have absolutely sucked defensively!

Absolutely. New Orleans was a hot bed, and lots of players' families were affected. Both physically (not practicing)and emotionally taxing on our guys.

I foresee us figuring out the new defense in the weeks to come, and by next year the tigers will be back, baby.

it takes longer to get a defense ready,

This statement is totally nonsense. D development is much faster than O. We sat in the same defensive scheme the entire game... Pretty much 0 blitzes and QB had all day to throw. That was a Coaching call and not the players fault. We have good personnel. Pelini deserves all he's getting and more!

Alabama had no opt outs and many returning play makers and still gave up almost 700 yards to Ole Miss.

Right...imagine what it would look like with hardly any starters returning and a new DC implementing an entirely new defense. That's a massive mountain to climb when your meetings are done through zoom and padded practices are cut in half.
