They were hoping it would heal up enough to only require a shot and finish healing this week and next.

If this is true, someone should have to answer some serious questions about why he played against Southeastern.

Who is responsible to have a competent QB ready to play if QB1 is hurt? With the resources BK has, he really underperforms and is full of hot air.

They also probably believed the running game would be able to take some pressure off of him. Im not sure why they believed it, but they clearly did. It also explains Kelly’s little outburst after UF.

Exactly. Everyone knows he’s a shell of himself, no velocity and can’t make the deep throw, along with zero running game! OM gave the blueprint to rush 3/4 DL, two high safety zone to take away all short routes and protect seam. No exotic looks or blitz, just sit back.

MVB might not be the answer and he might be terrible in practice, but game film doesn't really lie on him. He was way ahead of playing as a freshman last year on a terrible Miss State team. He looked more like a player who was in the program for a few years. That kinda picked right up against SELU. Who may be terrible who knows but you can't just keep trotting a hurt QB out there. You also brought him here to potentially be your future starter shouldn't you see what you have for next year to see how much money you need to spend in the portal for a QB?

I really don't understand why BK is trying to be so coy with the Nuss injury. Everyone knows now.

Safeties are not afraid of his deep ball and until Nuss connects at least one deep pass the safeties are going to lean into the box on every play.

Every first instinct BK has had since he's been at LSU is and has been wrong. This is just icing on the cake. I can't stand him.

This is more accurate than it should be.

I agree. Why the absolute frick would he play a snap vs. SLU? Seriusly...he should have been there in shorts and a t-shirt. Why wasn't that the get rest game?

frick - for that matter, LSU has a bye week now....could have just conceded UM with VB with a house money game. This problem has now been blown up due to fricking retards making decisions.

If this is true why is he on the team? Why does LSU seem to be the only SEC team without a competent backup QB?

You could have sat him since the Clemson game tbh. He could have been resting for a month plus before trying to come back. I am pretty sure you get the same results on your schedule as you are right now by playing MVB the last 4 weeks.

I hope our complaining on tRant gets Kelly to finally play MVB.

Well, I know media was reporting a lot he looked bad in practices they were in. Some players are just not practice animals and maybe that's what has BK terrified. Maybe when the lights are on the guy is just better at everything feeding off his adrenaline. He sure looked calm and composed against Southeastern. I get it, they suck but none of the things media was complaining about him were present.

It lines right up to his play last year with Miss State if you watched him. He had 0 help took sack after sack and got right back up calm and composed. He had several games where he looked like a future superstar in the making which clearly caught LSU's attention. I don't think it's fair to this team to keep trotting Nuss out there hurt.

At some point as a coach you have to man up and tell a player he's hurting the team more than he's helping it's best for you to sit.

Agree 100%.

MVB hopefully is taking most snaps in practice this week and next week, and hopefully he's learning the plays like there's no tomorrow. If this is indeed true about Nuss, MVB has to be the starter for the foreseeable future, and I don't understand why Kelly is so terrified of making that happen. The guy started in the SEC, against SEC foes, and he also looked pretty good in the SELU game.

Let the man play and get Nuss healthy!

Possibly. We may never be given the truth from LSU on what really is going on. But, there is no trust.

minimum he’s got to be capable of completing dink and dunk passes and handing the ball off.

MVB may not be great but he’s capable of making all the throws. He’s not a dink and dunk guy. He has a very strong arm.

He’s terrified to screw Nuss with his agent on the other line influencing vested interests. Meantime he is screwing Nuss regardless.

and MVB look awful in fall camp so I see why the rode with Nuss despite the injury

Everybody said Trinidad Chambliss for Ole Miss did not look impressive at all in fall practice either yet he’s been looking like a Heisman candidate in actual games. Practices don’t determine who a QB is. Some QBs turn it on and play their best when the lights come on and it’s time to play. Rohan Davey said he was the same way.

MVB might be the same way. But we won’t know unless Kelly gives him a shot. We can already see he has the legs to run

Its a pretty bad situation that BK finds himself in. If he knew there was an injury, which you know he did. Why only get MVB snaps in one game this season. Knowing the chances of Nuss being injured more and missing time were drastically increased? They should have had packages for MVB and running them a few times in every game for he and the offense to gel in some respect. Its an easy sell to the fanbase and media as well. MVB has a different factor to his game that we want other teams to have to consider when scheming for us. He provides a different spark...etc

It's like many of you don't even pay attention to the team you follow & support. MVB missed time in camp himself with a hand injury.

quote:

Unfortunately, Van Buren is also experiencing an injury of his own. He apparently injured his right, throwing hand, either at practice Friday or in a scrimmage at Tiger Stadium Saturday night that was closed to media. At Monday morning’s practice, Van Buren was dressed out, but did not throw. He wore a splint on his right hand over his index and middle fingers.

A scheduled practice open to media for Tuesday morning was abrubtly closed on Monday afternoon. And that was listed as the last open practice of the preseason. Kelly may update Van Buren’s status at a press conference Tuesday morning.
