You have your ace on the mound, and the top of the order batting in the bottom of the last inning, and they couldn't get it done? They didn't deserve to win. A lot of other LSU teams would have gotten it done under those circumstances.
They fought valiantly throughout the postseason. Enough so to not classify this season a failure, at least in my book. Hopefully they can use this momentum going into next year.

I’ll say this. We have 23, 24 losses on the season and you could point to a lot of close losses that Jay overthought a decision. Ackenhausen struck out the side in the 8th. I think you stick with him. He was obviously feeling it.
Plus, this isn’t like putting in Paul Skenes to close a game. When Jump gives up runs it’s usually early and then he settles in.

Should have never been tied. Ack closes it imo. He dealt in the 8th and jump was coming off 100 plus pitches on short rest.

the decision makes sense. you put your best in that moment and go down with them if you are going to lose.
i just personally believe in sticking with whoever is currently doing well until they aren't. doesn't mean ack wouldn't have given up a run there either.
i think he managed hellmers perfectly too. gave him the extra inning and pulled him after the walk to the righty i think.
i am more upset at the ump changing his zone late. 2 borderline calls against us cost us 2 runs. and that is even with the error.

No it’s not on Jake- that kid was one of the few reasons we were even in this game. The other bats were cost us.
