Not yet but after next weekend we are in a huge hole if we dont win the series and almost all would agree one we couldnt climb out of barring a miracle.
In what way? How, exactly, would a 19-9 record and 2-7 SEC record prevent us from making the tournament with 28 games left and 21 of them in conference play? Going 14-7 in those conference game and 5-2 in the OOC games would leave us 38-18 with a 16-14 SEC record; you think that's not going to get us in the Tournament? You think that's beyond the realm of possibility? Hell, we went on a 23 game winning streak a couple of years ago; 24-4 wouldn't even be a "miracle" at this point.

What bothers me more than just having mindless, unabated criticism of LSU players and coaches is I don't see where a single post of that type has been whacked or marked unreadable. Times have changed, and for the worse.

It's making me reluctant to visit The Rant.

which one of these thread titles implies intelligent discussion about what needs to change?

--Is Mainieri a one-hit wonder
--Does Mainieri teach fundamentals
--Our coaching staff has not gelled (WTF)
--Almost time to press the panic button
--LSU baseball disgusting and pathetic

Maybe you should of tried READING the posts in them to actually decide.

Maybe people who make the threads should USE INFORMATIVE SUBJECT TITLES. I know the admins try to ask the posters to make better titles, but most just don't get it.

Why would I click on a thread titled "Does Mainieri teach fundamentals"? That is an idiotic title, which would lead one to believe there are just as idiotic posts within it.

If there is a thread titled "constructive criticism of LSU's play this weekend", I would gladly read that and discuss it. The rest of these thread titles are crap and people should do a better job of labeling them.

Two weeks ago these assclowns were bitching that our rankings were not high enough and were booking hotel rooms in Omaha.

For many fans anything but hosting a regional and prob a super is not acceptable.

Horrible sense of entitlement. I agree totally.

However, to slightly side with the side of the Rantards for a moment, I can understand where the hysteria, panic, and other general mayhem is coming from. We saw last year what can happen if you don't take care of business during the season...you end up as a victim of geography and get sent to UCLA, which was a terrible match up. While I can see the concern of not wanting that to happen, it is still early to hit "the panic button".

KNOWLEDGABLE fans know that April and May determine the ultimate fate of the season.

Championships are typically won most easily at home in the Super Regional Round.

As evidence, since 1999, with the advent of the Super Regional Round, we've been more than a half dozen times.

None of those half dozen times did we advance to Omaha on the road.

Critical thinking re: our schedule would help reveal the following points:

We have played 2 SEC series.

We are 1-5 after 6 games.

We have 24 more SEC games remaining.

We have 8 more SEC series.

Splitting those up, let's give ourselves a seriously rosy long-term goal of taking a minimum of 2/3 of each of our next 4 SEC series. That would be a really impressive run.

That puts us at 9-9 in SEC play.

9-9 in SEC play with 4 SEC series to play is extremely unimpressive.

Extremely.

If you think that's the stuff of National Top 8 seeds, I disagree.

This is an optimistic outlook about the short-term prospects for our team. Right now, at this point, we're not at a point where we can expect 2/3 against anyone. Yet I'm using that to put us at just .500 baseball in conference with a mere 4 SEC series to play.

LSU has ZERO room for error from this point forward. They had a potential Sunday starter flame out in head-shaking, groaning fashion after two starts the past two weeks in the midweek.

We also have a closer who can't find what it takes anymore. We've got a batting order struggling for consistency.

If you were a true fan, and a true follower of the team, you'd realize that a 1-5 start in conference leaves a monumental task to finish the season strongly, and in position to make a post-season run. It means we'll almost HAVE to make a run deep into the SEC Tournament to solidify any hot-streak we get from the rest of the year on.

LSU is not in trouble, but they have their backs against the wall, and there's no debate in that.

I'm just wondering, but can you tell me how many times LSU has not actually played host to a Regional since the mid 1980's?

Can you regale me on that number over the past quarter century?

For LSU to not host a regional is NOT acceptable to me. It's been the standard of this program to do so in almost all but one year-if I'm not mistaken-since the mid 1980's.

A Super Regional means you've got to have a Top 8 National Seed heading into the NCAA Tournament. Either that, or you have to deal with one coming to your place if you throw a strong enough bid out there to host one.

LSU has never won a Super Regional on the road. Ever.

I want to go to Omaha. I know how hard that is. I know how close we are to absolutely losing that goal this year. After 25 games or so, yes, that's a disappointment.

Bigtime.

Not to mention that college baseball is not the MLB where a team can afford to lose too many weekend series. This guy talks about it as though losing two conference series back to back is no big deal. As if LSU still has six more months and an All Star break to play weekend series or something.

I like many other fans don't like to lose and vent on td. If we don't host or win a regional this year, then I think maneri has one more year. After that he should be fired if we don't host or win a regional next year.

I have one question for LSUGrad9295.

Are you a season ticket holder or do you go to the games?

I am a season ticket holder and consider myself a knowledgable fan. And being a knowledgable fan I know that a LSU baseball season is not a success unless you go to Omaha. And not hosting a regional or super as history has shown does not get LSU to Omaha.

Now is Omaha expectations to high for this team, maybe so, maybe they are a year away. But don't tell that to guys like Mahtook, Nola and Hanover who may not be here next year.

I have been critical of this coaching staff and the players even when we were winning. No one wanted to listen b/c we were undefeated but many of the issues that "knowledgable" fans have been bringing up for weeks are still happening just now we are not winning.

BTW I know anything can happen, but with teams like FLA and Vandy in this league at 1-5 a SEC title will be very hard to attain.

I believe 3 times. Smokes last year, CPM's first and last season.
