It doesn’t matter. The worst possible thing has already happened. The fan base doesn’t care. Keep him fire him whatever

This is fricking stupid. How about just don’t have any coaches and let the guys play uncoached because that’s exactly what’s happening now. We can’t get worst than last in the SEC. At least save a bunch of coach’s salaries. shite, all we need is a team manager to make sure they wear the same uniform. Then let them do what-the-frick-ever they wanna do. WE CAN’T BE WORSE. We’re fricking LAST. We would probably have better attendance because of the novelty of it. Only team in America without a coach. Hell, I might actually go to a game.

It’s a puff piece, anyone who knows anything knows there is no circumstance that will produce wins under McMahon. No amount of money or talent is going to fix this. MM has had 2 top 20 classes in his 4 years at LSU. Of all the teams in those two seasons McMahon’s 2 were last and 3rd to last in record and of the teams who had multiple classes his record is by far the worst. So what if he gets a top 5 class what does that produce, 6 SEC wins instead of 2 or 3? 7, 8, 9 tops, in an outlier year maybe? If that’s the ceiling you need to change coaches.

FWIW I agree, flame away but at least read the other side of this debate.

They didn’t actually list sny reasons to keep him other than he’s a swell guy which should tell you all you need to know on why he should be shown the door.

I’m a pretty good guy and I’d take a helluva lot less than he’s being paid.

Who does an FAQ in a sports article? Todd Horne might be dumb as a pound of bricks. Couldn’t even do the research of how much MM’s buyout is.

I’ll watch if they win. I watched when Wade was here.

I'll add that I also enjoyed going to games when we had a decent product on the court. The PMAC can be a very fun atmosphere.

I'm accidentally posting about baseball on a thread about Matt Mcmahon. Thats how much I care about what Tiger Rag has to say.

Had we kept Wade, basketball would be FIRMLY second on the totem pole where it belongs.

Any consistently winning basketball program that makes the tournament 90% of the time will accomplish this at LSU. It's the main reason that the "baseball bros" are defending this LOSER we now have TO THE DEATH!!!

Did anyone see the Tiger Rag article from two days ago where Guilbeau calls Matt McMahon Will Wade twice.

Retard or a retard who did that on purpose to fish for clicks?

Yes. People need to remember what Verge said last month.

“I feel that LSU basketball should be a winner,” Ausberry said. “It’s our second money raiser here at LSU, and LSU basketball should be in the NCAA Tournament. That’s just the way I feel personally about what we do here in basketball…We need to be competitive in that sport.

I don't think he is a fundraiser. and I am concerned that might be the most important part of the job.

It is an important part of the job. However, coaching is still the most important part of the job...and McMahon is well behind the rest of his peers in that aspect. If money was all that mattered then Kentucky would be resting until Friday rather than playing LSU on Wednesday morning. People LOVE to believe every account about NIL parroted on this site. Well, the estimates are Kentucky spent at least $20M on its roster. $20M doesn't seem like it should equate to 19-12 (10-8) and 9th place finish in the league. Yet, there they are.

Being a good fundraiser and a bad coach gets you Johnny Jones. Being a bad fundraiser AND a bad coach is how you get to a 4 year league worst 17-55 record. That means simply fixing one aspect of that equation (more money) is not going to solve the problem when you ignore the most important aspect of the equation...being a good coach.

This should be as easy a coaching change decision an LSU AD has had to make since Hallman 30+ years ago. Yet, here we are with some trying to argue it isn't.

I’m beginning to think the Athletic Dept is getting various media/social media on board with the idea of keeping him to prepare the fan base, what’s left of it, to keep him on., because they literally cannot financially afford to fire him. But I would argue and most LSU Basketball fans would agree, that we really can’t afford to keep him.

They circled the wagons last year with the whole “underfunded roster” argument. They have nothing left.

Seems to be their pattern but if they keep him it might kill the program. You can’t just keep giving fans the finger and expect to keep them. You’re gonna lose some die hard forever no matter what you do post McMahon if he’s brought back next year.
