Wade had zero reason Woodward was shite canned.

The seeds of distain for Woodward among powerful and connected people in the state started with their support for Wade and Woodward rejecting it.

That's why a HC with two last/near last place finishes in the SEC and zero enthusiasm among the fans/donors got a 4th year when every other HC under Woodward's tenure as AD (Orgeron, Maineri, Fargas) were quickly dismissed the moment they started producing insufficient results. The AD was not going to make the basketball job available while a coach refused to hire was sitting in Lake Charles and being pushed by connected people to come back to LSU.

Okay what about a guy who has:

• Made 6 straight NCAA Tournaments
• Taken 3 different programs to the Second Round
• Won 3 different conference titles (including a Power 5)
• In his first year at his last 3 stops, improved teams by an average of 158 KenPom spots

KenPom jumps:
172 -66
335 - 67
125 - 25 (current)

Since 2000 NC State's average finish in the ACC is 8th. It hasn't been a consistently good program since Jim Valvano left. LSU fans, who don't follow basketball, see "ACC" and "North Carolina" and reflexively think it must be a "better" basketball school. It really isn't when compared to LSU with the only differentiating factor being two NCs won 40-50 years ago. ng factor being two NCs won 40-50 years ago.

I appreciate you calling me basketball illiterate in a nice way

I would like to point out the following:

Since the 2000-2001 season, though this past season

NC State - 12 tournament appearances, 9 second round or better, 4 sweet sixteen or better, 1 Elite 8 or better, 1 final four appearances. That is 15-12 in the NCAA Tournament.

LSU - 8 tournament appearances, 5 second round or better, 2 sweet sixteen or better, 1 Elite 8 or better, 1 final four appearances. That is 9-8 in the NCAA Tournament.

Since the 2010-2011 season, though this past season

NC St - 7 tournament appearances, 5 second round or better, 3 sweet sixteen or better, 0 Elite 8, 1 final four appearances. That is 9-7 in the NCAA Tournament.

LSU - 4 tournament appearances, 2 second round or better, 1 sweet sixteen or better, 0 Elite 8, 0 final four appearances. That is 3-4 in the NCAA Tournament.

Additionally, you say

quote:

While there may be more passion for basketball relative to football in the ACC,

Which is part of why I say it is a better basketball school.

quote:

that doesn't mean there is no passion for basketball in the SEC. It simply a matter of winning. Just look at two other programs who share the PMAC, gymnastics and WBB. LSU fans don't have some longstanding love for either program. It's just that both are winning at a championship level. Start consistently winning in basketball and the EXACT same level of support will follow. l follow.

This is all true, there is no denying that.

quote:

NC State is a good job. No one should argue otherwise. But to totally dismiss the potential of LSU is foolish.

Saying he is at a better basketball school now does not dismiss the potential of LSU. It is just that the climb to get there is steeper.

The pay will be a plus for trying to pull him back.

The history with the end of his tenure at LSU may weigh against us, but that will depend on how much of a grudge he holds on that. If he does at all, it may also hinge on who is still in the building, and how he perceived their involvement in what went down.

I would take him back in a heartbeat. But, unfortunately, I do not have any influence on that situation. I really just don't see it happening.

I really just don't see it happening.

Alt and I generally disagree cordially when we do disagree. Our agreements can be kind of fiery though

The Cult around a coach that had some decent success is truly fascinating. He did well here but there are other coaches in the country that could also win here, just find one.

100% true. Discussions were even held with WW before the season began to discuss contingencies. Not sure if I'm more excited about the return of WW or the reactions of those who said it would never happen.

I think I've said this before Alt26 knows his shite.

I know everyone MK pisses everyone else off. But his MBB is more real than anyone else than the pretends.

I will put my reputation and hating to be 14-44 SEC.

I haven't watched LSU basketball with any interest since he left. Football and baseball always, but Wade's teams were entertaining and we were in the post season conversation, so it compelled me to watch.

Hope he comes back and has an awesome career!

Yes, I’d add you both do. Thanks for continuing to post with all the absolute basketball retards talking as if they know anything about the sport. I don’t know how yall do it. Makes me want to pull my hair out as I scroll the threads looking for you two and a couple others takes on games I missed

I don’t thinks it’s a cult ,the fact is MBB was exciting and fun under WW much like when Dale went to the tornament for so many years straight.LSU needs a coach with great personality and confidence to get the fans engaged.MM,JJ,TJ, just didn’t bring any enthusiasm to the program.
