But if you can be bought off for $1.2 million (or any price for that matter) don't talk to me how you would have liked to pursue your "lifelong dream".
I'm pretty sure that 99% of people would be willing to forgo their "lifelong dream" for that kind of money.
Most people's number one lifelong dream is to have that kind of money.
Saying the kid "sold out" is pretty harsh in the grander scheme. It's not like he signed for 20k.

This statement is pretty ridiculous.
You may think so.
To me, for a "lifelong dream", $1.2 million seems a pretty cheap price to sell out for.
Then again, money is the end-all, beat-all for some people. For others, it isn't.
I won't condemn the kid for the choice he made. Every man has to make the best decisions for himself in this life.
But don't go pissing down my back and then tell me it's raining.

Chill Bro. The "Lifelong Dream" shite was fabricated by fans. The kid liked LSU. He decided not to go to college, like many others. You're hating on the kid. It's the propeganda we had to read that's frustrating.

You say this as if he's doing something wrong by signing with the Pirates and not coming to LSU. It's called life-changing money for a reason. He has to do what is best for him, and being financially set when you're only 17 years old is pretty damn impressive. I wish the kid luck and think he would have made a mistake to pass up that kind of money to come play at LSU. And I don't happen to think that money is the end-all, be-all, but everything is sure as hell easier when you have more of it.

I can't either, but a lot of retards around here have assured us he wouldn't do this. It's a complete waste of everyone's time. Good for Zach, and good luck.
I think most assumed he wouldn't get that kind of offer. If it was around 900k, he's probably coming to LSU. That is a significant amount of money being turned down.

Likewise...you are the one whining about a 17/18 year old's decision not to play college baseball...as if your opinion means two shits.

Everyone knew that there was a price.
You are focusing on him leaving for 1.2 million rather than him turning down 950k the other day.
Anyone willing to turn down 950k to come play at LSU "loves LSU" as far as I'm concerned.
You come across as a guy who feels personally hurt that the kid isn't coming to LSU.

But he was right at late first round money. It doesn't really matter where a kid is drafted because "signability" determines a player's position more than anything.
Pitt is desperate to get good, young talent into their farm system.
if you are that good, you dont drop to the 6th round.

I wasn't sure if he was a first rounder or not. More like first day. If he hadn't been out publicly stating he wanted to go to LSU, he would have been drafted higher.

I don't know why cause all they do with it when it gets to the bigs is deal it away at the deadline

people said he wouldnt be a 1st rounder with his arm strength, and *GASP* he wasnt
he wasn't a first rounder, yes. but it wasn't his arm, it was his repeated quotations of "i'm going to be a tiger" or his self paid trip to omaha, etc.

Considering he was drafted before he went to Omaha.

Nope. Just initially shocked and a little disappointed that we're not landing a pitcher that I felt was going to be a good one...and was pretty certain was coming.
This program is bigger than one player. For all my bitching, we'll be just fine without young Mr. von Rosenburg.

Though $1.2 mil can be "life-changing" at 17, I don't think of it as "being financially set". He will be surprised how fast he can go thru 1.2 mil (house, car, women etc.) Long term earnings are more significant than the signing bonus. That much or more would have been there the next time he was drafted if he was all that and stayed healthy. So go to LSU and buy insurance for your arm!!

Not to be an arse but I make pretty damn good money and dont think I will ever have that much money at my disposal. I dont know how u live but 1.2 with the right investments is financially secure to me
