I agree and LSU did not bring in Kelly to win 7-8 games a year and that is exactly what you would get with him at QB.
I think Max played his arse off for LSU and did everything he could to make LSU a winner. I also think he is a tough competitor BUT is just not the talent a program that is trying to win NC's can have as a starting QB.
Im sure that is exactly what Kelly told him and he decided he would be better off somewhere else. I do not blame him or Kelly one bit!

If anyone thinks Howard would have been that much more successful with the o line LSU has, they are crazy. Howard’s brittle bone issue and LSU’s o line would have been a recipe for disaster.

Regardless I think Kelly needs to add another QB from transfer portal, we will only have two scholarship QB's

And the whole idea of Max not wanting to compete…Brennan was already here and going to be the starter. Max was definitely here to compete with Nuss. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Kelly told Max that Howard is his guy and is getting the job. Not a whole lot a kid can do if the job is given to a guy without even having to earn it.

Kelly better get a good, experienced QB from the portal for 2022 or we may be in a cycle of destroying young QBs that we faced under Miles.
Smart people are freaking out that our depth is literally non-existent and in 2022 we'll still have no depth, with a 2nd year and true frosh alone in our stable. This is with a coach that chews up and spits out QBs who are upperclassmen and have been in his system, while he adapts to a brand new OC that he likely has no history with.

Uh...we won 6 this year with an idiot HC who was fired halfway through, a DC who was handcuffed by that idiot HC for half the year, and a terrible OC. With even mediocre coaching, we win 9 games in 2021 prior to the bowl and likely 10 wins after the bowl
