So you think LSU basketball can never recover? If so you are even more retarded than I thought, I think very lowly of you

Well that’s understandable because you’re a narcissistic child and I’ve embarrassed you in a ton of threads so of course you have an irrational hate for me. Sorry Saquon Barkley was great and led the Eagles to a Super Bowl. You were wrong, that’s not my fault. Get over it

Wade is in the same boat as Orgeron; he will not coach at LSU again.

Wade absolutely got himself fired, he clearly broke NCAA rules. Now those rules are no more. I didn't think Wade would ever be back at LSU as long as Woody was here. Now , I wouldn't say it's impossible, if Wade wanted to return. But I hope Mac makes it. Not optimistic though.

Either way, nothing gets WW hired back at LSU.

What a bizarre, sad and short sighted view. Basically you are selling the program way short. This is conservative*!to the point being counter productive.

I don’t know. I think many sports fans would say it would be more bizarre to pass on a guy who has a .700 career winning %, over a career a 5 different schools including the highest winning at YOUR school of any HC over the last 100 years and who recently engineered the biggest single season turnaround in NCAA history in favor of HOPING the next hire “works out”.

LSU just hired a new football coach. However, they could have hired the JMU coach. A guy who has as many CFP appearances as Kiffin’s teams. A guy who MIGHT be the next Curt Cignetti, or hell, Nick Saban. Yet, I think most logical fans would have found it bizarre to pass on a guy who has proven he can win in the SEC for a guy who MIGHT be great.

Somehow that same logic doesn’t extend to basketball. You’re advocating passing on a guy who has already shown he can win in the SEC and at LSU in favor of hope. In reality it further proves that the LSU fans who are adamantly opposed to even considering rehiring Wade are so not because of any logical basis. But because of a strange desire to have their contrarian position proved right.

Wade has never coached at LSU in the full blown NIL/transfer era. Yet given the fact he was “only good at paying players” it may be worth a shot to give him a chance in an environment where coaches HAVE to pay the players.

O won’t coach at LSU again because no one at LSU wants him to coach again. It’s not a lack of desire on O’s part. That’s because 18 and 19 were the outliers in O’s career. Losing would be the outlier in Wade’s career.

On LSU’s side the impediment to rehiring Wade (Tate and Woodward) are gone. The current President likes and employed Wade previously. He wouldn’t stand in the way, nor would the current BOS who serves the governor…another person who doesn’t dislike Wade.

If LSU fires MM at the end of the season Wade will be the No. 1 target. Whether LSU could do enough to lure him away from NC State is a different discussion.

Same guys that love Coach O

You say this as if Will Wade and O are equal in their respective sport. Will Wade had a really good thing going. O won with Miles's talent and more than half of his coaching staff. O just knew what every other LSU new, if Les Miles updated his offense his teams would be unstoppable.

1. The people who fired him are no longer at LSU. In part because they refused to consider rehiring him at the end of last season.

2. He’s lived in LA 7 of the last 8 years. He will have been in NC for one year.

3. He’s well connected with the LSU donor base. They didn’t want him fired in the first place. A return means he steps right back into a ready made fundraising apparatus.

4. The SEC (and Big 10) are furthering the divide financially with the ACC. There is a reason schools are trying to leave the ACC.

5. Basketball is now a year to year sport. Regardless of how well he does at NC State this year he will have to build a nearly entirely new team next season. It’s not like he would be leaving a roster he built and developed over the course of multiple years to jump into a 2-3 years rebuild.

EDT:

6. He’s already worked for the current LSU president.

7. Maybe the timing is right for a return to the SEC. Bruce Pearl is out. Barnes is 71. Pope is struggling to make UK the dominant force their fans demand it be. Cal hasn’t been a dominant coach in nearly a decade. There may be a power vacuum developing soon with just Oats and Golden in the space.

Maybe he's got that winning basketball program on his mind.

Why IN THE MOTHERFLUCK would you be opposed to Wade coming back???

Ya hate it when basketball is in the tournament every year and winning SEC titles????

Hmm Alt, this is a pretty convincing list. Food for thought if the season turns south. I hope it doesn’t, but as Juaquin Andujar used to say, “Youneverknow”

Nah! He probably went to sleep, dreamed that LSU made the NCAA Tourney.
He awoke and realized how strange/impossible that sounded. His mind drifted to a time when it was expected every season and thought, What If....

Just for conversation but NC ST just got blown out by VA and is 10-5 with 2 losses to unranked teams. This with a $10 million roster and a preseason POY candidate. They only scored 61, two more than we scored against TT, and similarly got blown out in second first half but played even in second half but couldn’t mount a comeback because they shot 25% from 3. And out rebounded by 13. Is this coaching?
