If we steamroll FL, take Southern Miss to the woodshed...and then beat OM, who everyone thinks will beat us?? I wouldn't be shocked if he's named HC even before the Bama game. If its not then, if he does beat Bama...he will be named HC before midnight

He just needs to keep winning and keeping this team motivated...if he does so, it will all fall into place

to be fair, maybe O could be the next Dabo

Dabo was never a head coach before. Also, if O started out like Dabo did, he won't make it to find out if he's Dabo or not.

decision right now, too. They want to hire Bill Stewart. Just remember how that went. WVU went from in contention every year to weird mulleted coach who is an also ran every year. That was because they made an emotional decision, not a sound decision.

There's a subset of people in this state that lose all subjectiveness when it's a guy that they can relate to or is from this state

One of the biggest O supporters I know is a friend of mine, but he would support Adolf Hitler as coach if he was born in Louisiana

Just look at half the threads on the coaching boards "I wud luv to have a Louisiana guy coaching the Tigers!!!"

How does that make any sense to want that strictly for that reason?

some will never give him a chance.

7-1 or 8-0 and i think its a keep no matter what.

6-2 then if the first tier says no

Now, 7-1 beat Bama certainly makes it a "no brainer".

I think you still make Hermann turn you down... or at least force Texas to spend more than they think they should on someone who isn't Saban or Meyer.

He could go 8-0 and win a bowl game and I would still want Herman and Jimbo instead

1 loss, no's from kelly, fisher and herman
2 loss, open application process
3 loss, unconvincible.

Football success is precarious. If you make a stupid hire, you will wander in the desert for a long time. Hiring a failure in this conference on emotion if you are not trying to retain a Jimbo Fisher or Chip Kelly would be incredibly stupid. I like Coach O, but him implementing things that everyone with a brain said we should be doing doesn't make him the best coach for LSU, it just makes him less stubborn than Les Miles.

Yeah, not all of them. Just most of them. Why make a low percentage play when you have the ability to attract a top mind because you have a top job. If this job came open in 2014, no one would have said we should hire Ed Orgeron. No one. Everything has changed now because Ed made friends with the local radio people so they would talk him up ad nauseum for this situation. He coached at Ole Miss. He wants to back away from that, but that was his shot. He blew it. If he wants redemption he should take the Houston job or the Kentucky job when they open up at the end of this season.

Jimbo is coming off as a bitch, did you see his rant this morning about offenses. he is also something like 7-5 in his last 12. Im starting to think jimbo could be entering Les Miles territory. His dc hire has been horrid as well.

If we wanted a coach who loses to mid pack conference opponents, we should have just kept Miles.

But seriously, if we can't land Herman, I'm perfectly fine with O as HC (assuming a successful finish to this season) as long as he's given an open checkbook to hire a staff. He's already proven that he will actually let his assistants do their jobs.

He had the top two defensive coordinators in the country back to back until FSU stopped paying what it took to retain guys like that. That's why Jimbo is looking to leave. He knows that if he has the top resources he can win big. 23-1 in three years in conference. A mark not even the great Nick Saban has matched.

IMO, for THIS year, and THIS situation with THIS team, he is the perfect man for the job.

But I don't want him as the full time coach. Especially with next year being a rebuilding year. I have a hard time seeing next years team winning 10 games.

But if he wins out, it should be no question

I keep seeing everyone say next year is a rebuilding year. Why? We lose 10-12 starters max and couple other guys in our 2 deep. We'll be returning our Qb, most of the OL, and guice. Defense may take a step back but hopefully Aranda will still be here. Plus we have recruited 4 top 6 classes in a row and no matter who the coach ends up being I still think we will finish top 10-12 in this cycle.

Interesting to know that Herman, Fisher, and some others will come in, beat Alabama, and win numerous NC's.

Can't wait.

1.) sample size. He's been excellent in his career. One seasons worth of games doesn't change that. He had no talent last year at QB, and is still developing Francois

2.) his point about college offenses is COMPLETELY VALID. They let auburn and similar offenses completely break the rules. I remember Nick Marshall throwing a TD pass against us a few years back with a lineman blocking a DB 5 yards down the field.

3.) the les miles comparison doesn't even make sense.

I don't see next year being a rebuilding year, yes, we lose some players, but will have a lot of talent returning. It may be best to have a coach who is familiar with the talent in hand to mold it into a dominant football team.
