Seats were behind Tigers bench. Early in the 3rd quarter Tigers players on the sidelines had to be restrained from their own coaches/players. Never knew what the cause of the eruption was. Game and gameplan was a total clusterphuck!

Les did what Les did often: scrap things they practiced just prior to the game. They ran almost nothing they had spent weeks working on for this game. Not unusual for Les, but this time he couldn’t out talent the opponent and wear them down running what he was comfortable with.
Damn shame he didn’t trust his team or coaches.

Mettenberger could have pulled that game out of fire. I know Miles took a long time to cotton to Zach because of his history of sexual misconduct, but he could have been the Tua Tagliavoa of the 2012 NCG.

Les could have put Lee in at anytime.
He didn't.
sooooo.............

Because I watched Jordan Jefferson throw a ball to the back of Spencer Ware's head with 2 quarterbacks on the sideline. One which is now top 5 single season passing yards in LSU history.

He had success with the option for 1 half in the first game and thought that would be the golden ticket against Saban. All Alabama had to do was practice against the option and we were dead.

I was a Les Miles supporter, but he Froze in that game and that is it.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, could've led that LSU team to a win against Alabama on 1/9, not even a Nick Saban clone.

We exhausted our load in the Game of the Century. There was nothing we could've done.
That was one of the worst coached and schemed games I've ever seen. Our defense had a good game. The offense was a laughable joke. Game of the Century proved we could go to toe to toe with that Alabama team and we did it at THEIR house in prime time. I'm not saying LSU was the better team all around but that performance was abysmal and there is no excuse for it. To say that no other outcome was conceivable is beyond absurd.

I blame miles because as a coach you have to give your team "every" chance to win and he didn't do that by not trying Lee in that game. I'm not saying Lee helps us win, I'm saying you have to try and he didn't do it. He also didn't try anything different game plan wise. We really didn't do anything great on offense in that game and then he went into championship game without changing anything. Like the saying goes, what's the definition of insanity? Trying the same thing and expecting a different result.

The title game was a culmination of two seasons of civil war between Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson and the entire thing reared its ugly head at the worst possible time against the worst possible opponent in rival Alabama with Nick Saban as HC.
Close.
Think of 2011 as the budding flowers from the seed that was planted in 2008.
Yes, I’m referring to the Perriloux dismissal. Les’ decision to do the right thing in August 2008 came to a vicious climax that fateful night in the superdome.

Why did Les Miles get so much hate for 1/9/12?
To not give J. Lee an opportunity is inexcusable.

First time i ever heard anything like this in 6.5 years.

If you think LSU loss that game because Lee didn't play, you are smoking rope.
By the way, did you happen to catch last year's NC game? Bama did nothing on offense the first half, so Saban made a change and put in an unproven true freshman QB. And we all saw what happened.
Sometimes a new QB can light a spark. In the NC game, you have to try EVERYTHING. It's kitchen sink time.
But Le's did nothing.

Because Miles put together one of the worst game plans in the history of LSU.
Then he refused to take Jordan Jefferson out of the game when Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder could see he was struggling.
In my opinion, Miles did not take the game as seriously as he should have. He had success with JJ in Tuscaloosa when JJ came off the bench and ran the option. Bama was prepared for it in the NC game and shut JJ down. Miles had nothing else. My friend that is pathetic preparation.
This is why so many LSU fans were unforgiving. Rightfully so.

That has been the story that paaaawwwwwwwlllllllll has told ad infinitum, never heard it corroborated by anyone else. Not saying it’s not true, just that you’d think you’d hear it from at least one other source by now.

No one said you, you dingbat. No one knows how much or little lee would have helped, and that’s the thing that irritates fans.
Using Lee’s history as some sort of indication of how he would perform that night had he played the second half is what’s known as the gamblers fallacy.

Saw somewhere our guys went out and partied all night. Not sure I can pin that on Less.
Yeah, I remember the rumors of JJ out at the casino all night. But, when is letting the team stay out all night before the biggest game of their lives not on the HC?
As for the game, it was a complete lack of effort coaching. There was an expectation that they let the D keep it close, maybe get a turnover or two, the offense not lose the game and hope STs gets a game changing play. It worked in the Arkansas game, GA game, first Bama game and Les was hoping it would happen again.
I give him his due for the success he had here, but that game was a gut punch and ruined what should have been one of the most memorable teams/seasons in LSU history.

Just needed to start running trick plays or deep passes or something. Our game plan wasn’t getting across the 50.
Anything.
Anything.

Les should not have encouraged the rematch. His post game interview at the GOTC was a good opportunity to put the rematch discussion to bed and Miles did just the opposite. I just shook my head as I watched his response.
Then Mike Gundy never lobbying for his team to get in the championship was a head scratcher too.
Maybe Miles was just trolling OK St by helping Bama get in? Only thing that makes sense.
