re: Why do people keep saying Kiffin will eventually leave LSU for Bama?

Because there are at least three big jobs >LSU. That being Ohio St, Texas, and Bama. Those three programs could steal him away if they wanted. Just accept it and enjoy the current state of affairs. Only time will tell if those jobs become available, and then he will have to make a decision.

Kiffin is going to enjoy beating Ole Miss UF and Alabama

Bama football=LSU Baseball. Both historic powers.
Not exactly. Yes, LSU is a historic power in baseball. But the bigger draw is that LSU is one of the few schools in the marketplace that is willing to allocate significant resources to the sport. LSU is a huge outlier in the market in that respect.
It's different in football. Alabama is willing to invest big resources in football. But are several other schools, including LSU. There's not as much depravity between what Alabama will spend and what the other big players will spend as there is in baseball.
IMO, the bigger draw is Texas. Not so much because they have a ton of money. LSU, Alabama, etc will pay what is necessary to win championships. It's because Austin is a more cosmopolitan city than BR or Tuscaloosa. For many HC's that probably doesn't matter. But for a guy that LOVES attention like Lane, the allure of Austin may be intriguing

Why follow Sabans legacy when you can create your own at LSU?
There are only a few situations where Kiffin leaves. 1) He still has NFL aspiratioons. 2) He is fired. 3) He retires.

Yes, you are. He would bolt to Alabama in a heartbeat.

The Alabama fanbase has unreasonable expectations . Now with kids potentially playing 16 games if you make the playoffs you may have injuries . Nick used to be able to stack great players in his system . That is gone with NIL and the portal . Expectations have to come into alignment also . All things being equal , LSU is the better job . Plus , your guys dont get smashed in the Iron Bowl !

Coach with history of leaving teams might do it again? What a concept.
If the NFL ever comes calling, Kiffin will be gone.

I would bet big money that Kiffin will never be head coach at Alabama...

because that is what he does.
And that is what Saban did, until he stayed at Bama.
For some reason that can't be quantified, Bama is a better job. Their awful coaches get 10 win seasons--compare Mike Dubose to Curley Hallman. I can't understand it, other than the ability of their entire school and media being 100% behind their coach (until it's time they unanimously decide he must be fired).
LSU has the resources to compete with anyone. If Kiffin wants his legacy to be our Bear Bryant, he will have to stay after getting us started. He will also have to continue improving his own coaching. That's what he learned by getting fired and going to the Saban Coaching Rehab Clinic.
I'm looking forward to some exciting years.
GEAUX TIGERS!

Because there a lot of posters here afraid of their own shadows. You've never followed an in-game thread?
There'll be calls for Jay Johnson's firing well before Easter.

Agree. Bama only seemed bigger than LSU because of Saban. That factor is gone.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 9:47 am to Switchup91
Because they are living in he past. There was a time when Bama was a better job. Not any more. No school can say they have had 3 of last 4 coaches win a NC including 3 in a row, And if Kelly had been committed to that when he was hired he would have had the same opportunity. He threw that away. Kiffent ook to heart what Saban told him. He regrets ever leaving LSU.

Don’t know about him going to Bama, but he’s never stayed anywhere very long. He’s always either been fired or gone to a better job.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 10:03 am to Switchup91
Delusion...unless someone is from there. It is no better of a job than LSU and arguably not as good of a job. They are applying the Saban situation to Kiffin. My belief is that Saban would not have left LSU for another college job, and if the timing had not been as it was, would have readily returned instead of going to Tuscaloosa. Again, my opinion but that is based on things I've heard the man say, not any kind of insider info, just what he has said publilcly.

We have a better situation than bama
They always have to compete with auburn for talent and it looks to me like Auburn is on the uptick
Bama does not have more money or support than we do either.
They have very little if any legacy opportunity either. Even Saban won’t get that stadium name. He has to settle for the Field name.
LSU is the best job in the SEC. Period

If he leaves voluntarily it will be for the pros.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 10:12 am to Switchup91
If he does at some point become Alabama's coach, know that LSU must have been really good for at least a few years for it to occur. Is that worth it? I would rather see our next head coach go to BAMA than be unemployed....that means he must have won some championships.

Apples and oranges. One sport is a major. The other is college baseball.
