re: Why doesn't LSU play good teams before SEC play?

Not complaining at all, just debating the merit of playing a decent OOC schedule and perhaps losing 3 home games.
Is that really an issue in college baseball though? Are other top teams scheduling heavyweights right now?

As it is you seem to be hurting for friends by begging people on here to go to meetings with you.
If you think I'm 'begging' anyone to go with me, then you're just showing your ignorance again.
I go with one or two people every meeting. They are CC members. I'm allowed to invite a non-member as a guest. I'd like to educate an ignorant person like you about LSU baseball, but obviously you prefer to remain ignorant. That figures....with your background and all.

Yeah, I know nothing about managing money
quote:If they could get 9,000 people to show up consistently for intra-squad games, then maybe you're right. But playing in front on a large crowd prepares the team to play in those settings on the road and when tournament time arrives, including Omaha.
The team could likely be better prepared playing intra-squad games then facing the competition they have played thus far.

There you go with your holier than thou attitude again
Let me ask you, do you even go to LSU baseball games consistently?

I know Dallas Baptist lost to that college baseball powerhouse Missouri State last weekend. They are 4-2, having also lost to Univ. Texas-Arlington and having won against Indiana St (3 games), Ok. State and South Dakota State. I also know they played in the Tex A&M regionals two or three seasons ago and lost to two nobody teams. I don't recall them making any other regionals in the last decade. What else do you think I should know about them?
Congrats, you know how to use D1baseball.com. Dallas Baptist and Missouri State are both historically strong baseball programs. Dallas Baptist did most of it on a lower level than D1, but still managed to be the last independent to make the NCAA tournament. Missouri State has been to Omaha and has produced some very good baseball players.

What is it with you and my age? Every time you bring it up, it just makes you look childish. Especially since I know you don't know how old I am. I'm pretty sure I'm not as old as you seem to think I am.....

Look at TCU and Cal State Fulerton's schedules. Or Vandy, or Texas, or Virginia.

Wow, questioning the fanhood of guy who lives 1800 miles away by saying he doesn't go to enough games.

Don't follow much college baseball, eh?
Stanford opened the season on the road against Rice, Vandy, and Texas.
Fullerton played TCU on the road and has games vs. UCLA, Arizona St. upcoming.
Az. State plays @Auburn
There are many other examples, but its quitting time.

Seriously, how would I know where you live? I don't. Your comments seem to indicate you are interested in LSU baseball but then they also show a lack of knowledge about the program. It's understandable that you don't know much about it since you're not able to go to games.
I didn't mean any offense.

2003
NL MVP Ryan Howard, former Red Sox 3B Bill Mueller, among others.

Stanford's schedule is pretty strong.
Their first three series...
at Rice
at Vandy
at Texas
eta...Dean beat me to it.

Money isn't the end all and be all. Losing 3 home games isn't going to break the bank. Seems as a fan you would want what is best for the team.

So playing at HOME in front of 9,000 hometown fans prepares you to play on the road??

LSU baseball...possibly, baseball in general...not a chance.

Yeah, I make the commute from San Fran every weekend to see the tigers play.

Nope, I follow LSU. Having said that, since the SEC has some really good teams, could these other teams have to schedule stronger OOC games because their conference isn't as strong overall?

quote:And Stanford averages fewer than 2,000 fans for their home games. You keep saying that doesn't matter, but it does. When they travel and give up a home series, they are not out that much money.
Stanford opened the season on the road against Rice, Vandy, and Texas.
For every three game home series LSU loses, we lose more than a quarter of a million dollars.
Plus, the teams they play which you mentioned probably pay them to play Stanford at their home field. LSU does that, too, for some teams.

He was talking about me. Also, I don't need to GO TO LSU games to have knowledge of the program. This thing called the Interwebz allows me to closely follow a team despite being able to go to games.
Just because you spend money going to games and being in the baseball circle jerk club, doesn't mean you know jack shite about shite.
