The players get 100k in free education should they choose to use all 4 years. Along with many other benefits that normal students dont get.

I can see both sides of the argument. With few exceptions, if you don't make the playoffs, 6-6 is just as good as 9-3. You go to a bowl, get money from the conference, maybe hurt recruiting a little, but the playoffs are making the bowl games irrelevant and players are feeling the same way, thus Greedy sits out cause the bowl game means nothing.

I mean I'm not mad the company I work for makes money off me for the work that I do for them. With student athletes their pay is their free ride

He made a commitment to play.the regular season and he did that, even if the opportunity for a championship was no longer there. That is very respectable.

His signing bonus would be potentially 30 times that? Why add any additional risk to receiving that? He can always go back, finish school, and be normal like everyone else.

I guarantee you everyone of Greedy’s teammates are wishing him well and telling him to go get paid. It’s college football. You act like he is leaving people to die. Get a grip.

The only reason he has the platform he does is because of the fans. Without the fans, he's learning a different trade to provide for his family, and the overwhelming odds are he'd be in no position to be a millionaire. So, IMO, yes these players 100% owe the fans finishing out the season. Of course the team is ok with it because we've made them think there's nothing wrong with this attitude.

Um no, Baker Mayfield, the number 1 pick in the draft, had a $22MM singing bonus last year. Greedy is anywhere from 6-22 in the mock drafts out there. Let's take the #22 pick last year, Rashan Evans, his signing bonus was $6.5MM.

All bowls outside of the playoffs are glorified scrimmages. The season is over for LSU. You can blame the playoff for this, it's slowly making all the other bowls irrelevant. They're eventually going to extend the playoff and complete the process of making the bowls little more than spring games against other schools.

Why would a first rounder who isnt coming back risk an acl tear or broken leg in a glorified scrimmage? It sucks but it is what is.

Pathetic is what it is, all of these guys just hang teammates out to dry who helped them get in that position.

He does not have to shut the frick up. It's his opinion and matches a lot of LSU fans, including me. If he don't play he is a punk arse bitch!! Let the school, players, fans, and himself down. I bet during the game he will feel like shite

Sure, the players will tell him that, but during the game if UCF is beating our arse and he could have helped, screw him!!

I mean he plays CB, very low probability of getting hurt at that position. If he was OL or RB sure but just play in the damn bowl game, this is horse shite and O seems to be encouraging this stupid trend.

Anyone that has played any college football knows you bust your arse for every penny of that scholarship money, even if you are a serious student your grades suffer, more demanding majors like engineering are tough if not impossible to do, there is nothing "free" about it.

You're the 50th moron to insure us that you know what the team is thinking with absolutely no evidence. Shut up thinking you know how the team feels you idiot.

And he's not acting like he's leaving them to die, he's leaving the secondary looking like shite vs a high scoring offense, which is how everyone is acting. Stop exaggerating to be right just because you can't be right using facts.

A little? 6 n 6 means lsu is done and broken, coaching staff is bad and that we're a terrible school to represent NFL caliber talent. 9 n 3 with 1 bs loss, 1 loss we shouldn't have had, and 1 to the soon to be national champions keeps us in the talk as a blue blood. Recruits don't wanna play for coach gumbo going 6 n 6. Going 9 n 3, 10 n 2 by anyone w standards who knows we beat anm, means we're still a big deal and attracts recruits.

All of you are saying that a player should or would play if his team is in the playoff? Why is that? To get a shiny piece of jewelry? Why should they value that over millions? I can’t wait till the day this happens and watch the media, fans etc. meltdown.

Because the NFL won't invest big money in a guy with an attitude when someone else is available who is motivated. Don't kid yourself the guys successful in the league are the workers, the ones who play the game hard and love it. That's the reason for the tough and long examination of draft prospects.

Unless there is a LIKELY INJURY, players should play.
The bowl may not mean as much to them, but I bet you that all of the other players in the team will CELEBRATE a win and rejoice in it for the rest of their lives.

They got there as a team, not individually.
