Again, please provide examples of offensive lineman that have noticeably improved during Miles tenure...not trying to flame, I am genuinely curious...

This is the only decent argument.

Name me another grad assistant on the team.

3) I liked what I saw from the Spring Game regarding hustle and technique
You were impressed with our OTs hustling after Sam and Mingo after they blew by them?

4) If QB play is better regarding mid - deep passes, it will not allow teams to stack the box like they did in 2009, thus easier blocking , better run game
Teams actually didn't stack the box nearly as much as many on here believe.
In reality people think the OL will be better simply as wishful thinking. Like someone posted, there's zero evidence of an OL who has tremendously improved under Les/Stud. I sure hope they do improve but the way many on here say it as a forgone conclusion is just ridiculous.

Brian Johnson was a lot better IMO his second yr starting (though the shift to guard may have been just as big as experience). Herm and Helms played better each year, and Ciron was trending upward every yr until this last year.

Why Will Line Be Improved?
Same reason i was a better offensive lineman my senior year of high school than my junior year.
I got bigger and i learned the position better.
Same reason people are usually better at their job their second year than their first year.
They have more experience.

I didn't start the thread to flame the line or anyone who thinks they will be improved...just to get that out of the way.
As we all know, we cannot trust what Miles thinks or says

Herm improved every year he was at LSU.

I remember Saban's 9-3 '04 unit that improved to one of the best groups in LSU history. Is that example enough?
We went through an OL recruiting funk starting with only 13 players total signed in '05 and a good bit of OL atrition the following couple years due to academics and whatever.
It started to really show in '09 after big Herm left.

In Spring 2009, the net rushing total was 173 yards on 45 attempts.
In Spring 2010, the net rushing total was 340 yards on 57 attempts. Almost twice 2009's total with only 12 more carries.
I personally believe we had a bigger, stronger offensive line this spring and they will be improved because of it.
If we can run better, then we are better.
Here are two of the replacements:
Patrick Lonergan (6'4", 300lbs) - Smart player with tremendous football knowledge ... Possesses great strength as he tied the school record in the clean with a 374-pound lift during the spring of 2010 ... Squatted 506 pounds for one of the top numbers on the team
Alex Hurst (6'6", 324lbs) - Hard-working lineman. One of the Tigers' top weight room performers who was outstanding in the spring ... Ranked fifth on the team in the power clean (341 lbs.) and second on the squad in the jerk (374 lbs.) in spring workouts ... Garnered several honors during spring practice, including the Alvin Roy Fourth Quarter Award and Ralph Norwood Performance Award.
and Williford may also take over Blackwell's spot if he's not careful:
Josh Williford (6'7", 336lbs) - Coming off an outstanding spring and goes into the fall listed at No. 2 right guard behind Will Blackwell ... Powerful run blocker.

I firmly believe that this guy was one of the more impressive and underated signees of the past 5 years. Definitly a steal by the coaching staff. Wiliford was no-doubt a find by the coaching staff coming out of a small school in Alabama. I would be surprised if he doesn't get a lot of playing time this year. While his role will be to come in and spell Blackwell, I don't think there will be any drop off in performance when he comes on the field.

BTW, I have no way to prove it, or any evidence that it will happen, because there's just no way to predict how it will play out. But I just have a gut feeling that this line will be a helluva lot better. I realize that there it is inexperienced outside of Barksdale and Josh D. But I just think that Hurst, Blackwell, PJ Lonergan, and even Williford are going to make a difference this year.
Call it optimism or gut feeling, but I just see us being pleased with our line this year.
