Good thing he coached at ND instead of his entire career in the SEC. His win total would be 10-20 points lower

Who knows if he can get over the him and win it all. And while there are absolutely some legitimate criticisms that can be made about Kelly, not sure being lazy is one of them.
Fans kill me when they get on here and call Kelly a horrible coach. The dude can obviously coach at a pretty high level. Even if his W/L record is slightly inflated due to ND’s weaker scheduling, he still won. There are coaches in weaker conferences that have losing records. He won the games that were on the schedule. And he has done it everywhere he has coached. Now, can you argue that his teams are underprepared in early season. Sure. Can you argue he has made questionable asst coaching hires. Sure. Can you argue that he was slow to adapting to NIL. Sure. But I can find criticism of all coaches. Don’t want to call him one of the best, that’s fine. But it is completely disingenuous to say he flat out sucks as a coach.

He has his opportunity this year. We have the talent to make a deep run. No excuses for him this year. Kelly will be deep fried if he doesn’t make at least make the playoffs

I agree with most of this.
He is not a bad or even an average D-1 coach. He's good, perhaps very good. But not elite, IMO. His record shows that.
Da Coach O was certainly not an elite coach, either, but he was good enough so that at the right place at the right time, he didn't screw up the opportunity.
Kelly seems to me to be a very good organizer / manager from a program perspective, but he is not a great recruiter, game strategist or motivator.

Kanjunman pretty much said what needed to be said above. You had all the momentum in the world going into the locker room and were just totally unprepared for the switch at quarterback. The offense disappeared on the road and if you want to blame that on talent/inexperience, fine. However, they should’ve been able to be in game management mode on that side the ball but the defense melted/was not ready for what A&M gave them and we lost a game that we should’ve won after the way you played the first half of football. That melt and level of unpreparedness falls on the coaches

He has never been an elite coach and never deserved the contract LSU gave him.

Just say you don't know anything about contracts that year.

Please help those of us with lesser understanding about the contracts that year and why it compelled LSU to offer $100 million on a ten year term.
Thanks!

So, you say he has the talent on the team to compete this season, but he isn’t a good recruiter. How did those players get here?

I said he is not a GREAT recruiter.
Re -read the post.
And I also acknowledge that LSU has top level resources and is a blue chip program.
That, and people like Corey Raymond and other really good recruiters here explain the talent.
It’s just not something Kelly is charismatic enough to pull off.

If not 2025 surely by 2026. At the latest 2027. No later than 2028.

On second thought maybe we should judge him on year 8
