82 game was redemption for all the painful beatings Alabama had bestowed on us in the previous years. My roommate was from Alabama.
Priceless. But my only away game ever was Tuscaloosa in 2001. After 9/11. Sitting in I believe it was the North endzone of BDS, the row right in front of the LSU band. And if they still do. Who sits on the first row of the GBFTL, the GoldenGirls. Must have stayed an hour after the game. Priceless.

Thanksgiving night 1973 - undefeated LSU 9-0 VS undefeated Bama 9-0 on national TV.

Was there that night, my final year at LSU Law School. #2 BAMA vs #7 Tigers. Tigers played a great game, but a couple of untimely turn-overs (back then too!) and the BAMA wishbone was too much. BAMA moved up to #1 on the strength of that victory.

Ironic, Terry Davis signed with BAMA rather than LSU because BAMA was a passing team. The Bear changed the offense, and Davis ended up as a very capable wishbone qb.

Three LSU-Bama games I attended that were particularly memorable for me. In order.

2000 The Break the streak game, complete with what I thought was going to be a damn riot when the ref awarded Bama possesion after LSU had recovered a fumble. I remember Bradie James pointing to the replay screen and the clueless refs looking up. If they would have given the ball to Bama there I don't know what would have happened but it wouldn't have been good.

1996. Gameday on campus. SEC West title on the line. SU Alexander runs for a record in TS. I stayed the whole game. When HT got hurt
on the first drive and Sparacino came it we knew it was going to be bad. And it was.

2002. The Fifthchoicioni/mythical Saban speech game. Vaunted Tiger D was mystified by Bama's draw play all game long. 31-0 Bama. A real stinger that one.

1-2 Vs Bama in memorable games for me.

my two favorites are the "84 and "88 games. in '84 i took an amtrak train out of new orleans and the train was packed with tigers. it was an 8 hour tailgating party.most of us were stumbling as we got off the train. as we passed through tuscaloser the station was mooned. great fun.
in '88 i flew to the game on a king air 200 or 2000 with a group out of houma called the flying tigers. we flew in saturday morning, went to the game and we were home that evening. and we won!!!

ERIC MARTIN 1981-1984

Thanks uptown ruler was about to post the correction. Eric would have never dropped that pass to good a pair of hands. I may be wrong but I think it was Tracy Porter or Willie Turner who dropped it though it could have been Orlando McDaniel but I dont think so.

They actually broadcast that 1982 game in the Superdome, and a bunch of people turned out to watch it!

For me, the 2000 game was the best. Finally breaking through at Tiger Stadium against Alabama.

Also, I just absolutely loved the 2001 game in Tuscaloosa. Seeing LSU set Alabama defensive records still gives me joy.

2005 and 2007 when we destroyed their seasons.
I was at the 1997 game when we shut them out. That was nice.
Bad games:
1996 - thought we were going to break the streak and contend for the SEC. Then, for the next three years, we had to see Shaun ALexander highlights.
1998 - Alabama wins in the most improbable fashion ever. Seriously. Two touchdown passes that were batted by our defensive backs into their receivers hands AND an onsides kick recovery.
1995 - 10-3 loss in Tuscaloosa. I still remember being miffed about that game because there were a couple plays where Kevin Faulk did not make a first down, and at the time, Bama did not have the big red stripe thing that you laid on the sideline to mark it, so I thought he didn't rightly know where the mark was...
1999 injustice
2002 cold, miserable, horrible and I was there.

In all, we still need to make more good memories against Alabama. Starting THIS SATURDAY!!!!

The 2005 game that we won in overtime.

Miles goes for it on 4th and goal in the third quarter. I wouldn't have, but Miles has way bigger onions than I do.

We were sitting down low right where the LSU section meets the Alabama section. After we hit the winning touchdown in overtime, the dejected look on all those Bama faces was priceless.

After the game and outside the stadium, my father asked some Tide Band member if she knew "Hold that Tiger." The look on her face was even better.

LSU took Bama out of the National Championship picture that year. (They'll do it again this Saturday!)

'79. Sat in the cold rain to watch us lose 0-3 to #1 Bama. We never crossed midfield on offense so it was not as close as it seemed.

But we lost to USC and Bama, both as #1 teams that year, by a combined total of ?7 points.

1982.

I was 14 years old. The game was a road game so I did not attend. These were the days before games on 15 different TV channels. This was a radio only game. And it was a day game.

I actually went with a buddy to the Assembly Center to watch this game on closed circuit TV. The PMAC was packed and it was easily the next best thing to being at the game. VERY loud and VERY raucous. It was an absolute blast!!

In 1983 we went to the game in Tiger Stadium, in the midst of a losing season, with a chance to salvage something great. Eric Martin took a slant and went something like 80 yards for the TD on the first play of the game. I still say to this day that we outplayed them but fell just short. After the game, during which I drank too much of the rum I had smuggled in, I was just standing there in the north endzone with my friends staring silently and drunkenly fuming at the Bama band playing and celebrating on the other side of the stadium. I then just started walking along the bleachers without even saying anything to my friends, who then just followed, wondering what the hell I was doing. I walked along the west stands, inside along the bleachers, all the way around to the south endzone upper section, obviously having to hop over the barriers along the way. When I got to the southeast upper, I walked down to the bottom row, where I was then looking down at the Alabama band. I then started picking up every used cup and nasty empty nacho tray I could find and tossing them down into the band. A great case of drunken stupidity at the ripe old age of seventeen.
