Also I’m more convinced than ever that Formula 1 is just European SEC football

It’s like Danny Ric didn’t exist.
I wonder what DR is thinking now? “Hell yeah, put me in that car let me see what I can do?” Is he more tempered and willing to be a #2 after his stints at Renault and Mcclaren?
And what is Checo thinking knowing there’s another guy sitting there who has won for RB before?
People act like Ricc is over the hill.
He’s six months older than Checo

Can't wait for Italian Hugh Freeze to get caught texting hookers from the Ferrari pitwall
(still better on strategy than Binnotto)

Damnit, now all the Harry Potter memes are worthless
And I just want to say I stand by that, LeClerc looks more like Harry Potter than Bonatti, or whatever his name is.

Alex Palou announced as a reserve driver for McLaren F1 next year. He will attend races that don't conflict with IndyCar races (where he will still drive for Ganassi after Palou gave up his fight to leave
):
https://www.mclaren.com/racing/team/alex-palou-become-mclaren-f1-reserve-driver-2023-season/
Palou, Pato O'Ward, and Colton Herta all tested for McLaren, but Palou, with his 2021 IndyCar championship, was the only one who had enough points for a Super Licence. It would have been more interesting to see who they would have chosen if all three were eligible for a Super Licence.
So my question is, who is McLaren's reserve driver when Palou is not available? And when Palou is available, is he automatically the #1 reserve driver?

Might use a common backup as Merc on those races. If Mick ever confirms.

Chinese GP cancelled next year... Due to, you guessed it, Covid
So what race replaces it. People are screaming for Turkey on F1's IG page.

Have heard Portimao touted as the replacement.
I'd like to see Turkey again.

Hope they never go back there.

Tickets prices for next years US GP have been released and they are... STEEP. GA Tickets are starting at $475.
Of course the sport is growing in popularity and it will be a sprint weekend next year but still seems really high. They may have priced me out of going this year.
Only other thought is that maybe the higher prices will deter as many people from going. Considering how overcrowded it was last year.

We are tentatively doing Canada again this year.
Have access to a free lakehouse in Austin this year so might try to do both. Sucks that the new higher prices mean the same amount of money.

Prices are ridiculously expensive now for no good reason. They took a three-day parking pass from $195 to $600. Vendors earlier this year were price gouging. Hamburger? $25. Oh, you want fries? Gimme another $15. Want a Red Bull hat? Start at around $115.
They also lost my trust with charging $95 for a concert upgrade without naming the act, then, after they'd sold probably 20,000 upgrades announced Ed fricking Sheeran. What a joke. We left after three songs.
They are pricing out a lot of fans, especially casual fans.

It's not even just F1 either, lodging has gotten insane.
When we attended COTA in 2021 we found a hotel downtown right near 6th Street for $190/night, probably a bit of a steal but whatever. For 2022 that same hotel room went up to $325/night, then once tickets went on sale up to $525/night. I checked a week ago for 2023, that same hotel, same room is now $693/night. So nearly $3300.00 just in lodging, that's nearly $1000 more than we spent on the entire 2021 trip, lodging, travel, tickets, food, etc. all included.
It would now cost me double what it did in 2021 to attend the USGP, and I refuse to pay that. I enjoyed myself, I had a great time, but I'm glad I experienced it before it got this out of hand. It'll be a long while before I ever attend another US based race, if ever.

And staying further out doesn't really help.
We were north of Round Rock in 2021 and still paid $300/night.

Either of those would be better than that goofy-arse Shanghai track.
Here's a video talking about the changes for next year. Nothing anywhere near as major as this season of course but a couple of the more important ones are changes to the floor edge and the venturi throat to help reduce porpoising and strengthening the roll hoop. If you recall Zhou's hoop failed when he got flipped over at Silverstone.

I paid a couple of hundred the first year at COTA. Paid less than a hundred at Monza a couple of years latter.
I seem to remember that the americas races were priced much higher than the euro ones back then. Also, saw a World Cup qualifier for much less than a SEC football ticket would have cost.
