If Chalmette voted against the split, I don't see them being blocked from playing Holy Cross short of a split where the LHSAA games the power points earned by playing any of the splitters.
To put it in Baton Rouge terms, Catholic BR would probably have little issue playing Zachary, who is against the split, but certainly wouldn't want to play lesser public programs like Broadmoor, Tara, Woodlawn, etc, if any of them voted for the split.
unless they have to for district purposes - pretty much NO select school will schedule any schools that voted for the split - in several sports the fallout from that has already started - several non select schools that host large baseball tournaments have been told by selects that have been playing in them FOR YEARS had already informed them (before yesterday's vote) they would not be playing in them in the future.....
football schedules are set for next year however so football may have to stay as is.
nearly all select AD's and Principals are pretty in line with this stance. a few are looking at breaking contracts in non district games and scheduling other opponents in lieu of playing the split voters....

I do not think those two caused 56.5% to vote the way they did today.

They are to blame as well, especially Rummel which voted down Curtis from entering the Catholic league at least once when every other school was on board.

Once again, it's not about the principal from Winnfield, Many or Clyde Briley. 56.5% of the principals voted for the split yesterday.
Keep telling yourself that.

Better solution would be a north-south split. Then the n.la publics would have a level playing field and the Roman Catholics in s. La could have their little rivalries that it so important to them that nobody else gives a shite about.

every other school was not on board.... but the former principal from severn av was heavily involved with play in class...
funny those principals all get a pass.. but booker and griffin get blamed - all they did was retaliate

Is it because now they have to play other Privates and not Publics? Seems like they don't want to play other Privates either?? Irony?
What the frick are you babbling about.. Private schools have always and will always play each other.

Just stop posting in his thread, it's obvious you have little understanding of the current situation.

When are you going to do something about your situation?
Select schools complain often about the publics not wanting to compete. Yet, they sit on their hands and do nothing when they are pushed into a corner. Competition is about facing challenges.
Well, the fourth quarter has started for select schools, and I don’t see the offense on the field.
Punt team! Get in the box and get ready.

Are you seriously an LSU fan who is dismissing the importance of a rivalry game? Gimme your Tiger card bro, I'm pulling it.

Sorry, thread is very long. Can someone point me to where we can see how people voted/who voted for the split?

Because there is still plenty of money that goes back into the pool of people who don't want you in their association? Also, privates should petition to no longer have any state championships outside of the NOLA/BR/Northshore area because whats the point of travelling when nearly all the competitors are from the triangle?

I guess I don't understand, I don't understand what it is Privates are suddenly all upset about. Nobody voted to kick Privates out LHSAA they voted to give Privates their OWN State Title (Best Private in your Class) and now Publics have their own State Tile.
Like I said previously it waters down the competition when it comes to Playoffs but I guarantee you no athlete is going to throw their State Championship Ring away because they felt the competition wasn't any good. The Private school complainers in this thread are complaining abt things that won't affect them. Who cares abt Publics if you go to Privates, that's why you send your kids there anyway. All I am saying is that if Privates actually leave LHSAA they will be the ones to suffer. LHSAA schools would not be allowed to play them, and unless you could get more than 150 schools to leave with you it would be hard to manage game schedules and classifications that are fair to everyone.

I will help you. Privates want to play the best publics too. They want a true test of who is the best. It gets a little boring playing the same 10 teams all the time.

And they will get that opportunity this year.
FWIW I'm against the whole split thing

Not really true. There are something like 11 or 12 big football playing private schools between Lafayette and New Orleans, scheduling would not be that hard. You are also missing the point that, why should the private schools have to travel to state championships not in the triangle if all the teams come from the triangle? Look at how many coaches were pissed with the move to Shreveport for wrestling. All the best teams have to travel the furthest. Once again, dues are going to help schools who don't want the privates in the first place. They should take their money and let the publics pay for everything. The burden is about to become even bigger now that the LHSAA will have to pay out more money to rent facilities for even more state championship games.

Scotlandville is a public school that will be playing in the select division. some nonsense about the number of magnet students they have makes them a select school this year
Posted on 6/9/16 at 1:32 pm to GhostofJackson
So 12-15 schools get together and play a 12 week season then play same 12 teams again in Playoffs?
I am NOT for the split, but instead of everyone bashing it, embrace it. In the end what does it really matter if they give out 5 more State Titles than they used to have??

The LHSAA revealed in a marketing report Monday that it will lose about $250,000 in sponsorships based on the downturn in the economy. With the split vote affirmed, speculation turns to LHSAA title sponsor, the AllState Sugar Bowl, which has an escape clause in its contract based on the expansion of the split. Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan declined comment on the future of the sponsorship late Wednesday.
