Can someone remind me how many roster spots we get to add for playoffs?

Zero.

Get to add a few for September but not as many as before a few years ago.

Teams submit a 26-man roster (it was 25, prior to 2020) prior to each round of the postseason comprised of postseason-eligible players. A club may request permission from the Commissioner's Office to replace a player who is injured during the course of a series, but that player is then ineligible for the rest of that round and the subsequent round, if there is one. A pitcher may be replaced only by another pitcher, and a position player only by another position player.

Teams carry extra players throughout the postseason in the event of injuries, and those players, as well as players on the injured list, can be in the dugout during games, within reason.

It’s still just a 26-man roster

In all seriousness, I can see some west BBWA guy who doesn't value stolen bases give Freddie a sham vote.

His hitting numbers are close to Ronald's this season.

Yeah, Freddie’s quietly having a really good year over there. Has 4.5 WAR compare to Ronnie’s 5.4 coming in to today. But besides the SBs, this stood out to me:

Freddie—51 walks to 83 Ks
Ronnie—54 walks to 56 Ks

That’s been maybe the biggest jump in his game this year. Last year, in 119 games, he only walked 53 times to 126 Ks. He’s never been close to a 1:1 ratio in his entire career.

Would you carry an extra catcher on the 26 in the playoffs?

Would make it easier to pinch hit TDA, but with the way our offense is and should be come postseason time, we don't really run into any pinch hitting scenarios other than Pillar for Eddie when a lefty is on the mound.

Comes down to whether you think there is a better chance you'll use a third catcher (Tromp) or a pinch runner (Wall). I lean towards Wall just because swiping those two bags last week was more impressive than anything Hilliard did since April.

With that said, we had Terrence Gore on our postseason roster in 2021 as a pinch runner and never used him.

The easiest postseason roster swap will be Grissom for Culberson, assuming we don't trade Grissom in the next couple of days.

I just have missed this. What happened?

I’m being a little dramatic but a couple years ago she interviewed Ronald and he answered in English and she still asked the translator to repeat it anyways even though everyone could understand him.

He he didn’t do an interview in English again until April of this year.

After the interview she told him “it better be English from now on” trying to be funny but I don’t think Ronald appreciated it

Will be an interesting call. It’d allow for us to DH Travis. But Tromp is a wasted spot otherwise. I don’t think you can carry anybody who can’t at least steal a base or be able to give you decent PH bat off the bench. I’d probably let him travel and activate him only if there was an injury to Travis or Sean.

I think it’s 50/50 he’ll be with the club next week. But if he is, I agree, that’s an easy call. And am I crazy, or has he caught before? Could be the emergency catcher if, like you mentioned, we PH TDA and burn him and then something happens to Murphy.

I don't think Grissom has ever caught at any level.

We have no one in this pen who I'd trust in a high leverage spot.

We have a handful of guys who can be dominant on their day (Minter, Iglesias, McHugh) but they have almost as many blowup days as they have shutdown days.

I would struggle to put McHugh on a playoff roster right now.

Goddamnit, what I wouldn’t give to get some competent bullpen help.

88% percentile in Hard Hit rate.

I'd still have him on the roster as an innings eater in a game that's out of hand one way or the other, but not trusting him to hold a late lead.

Grissom not giving LF a shot in Gwinnett is frustrating. Dude can hit. He could catch fly balls and hit for years. Frustrating.

I think that's an organizational call, not a Grissom call. Pretty sure, after spring with Arcia winning the job, they entered this season with the idea of giving Grissom as many reps as possible with the hopes he can take over SS either next year or 2025... or trade him.

But yeah, he'd be a good LF/UI to have on this roster. His bat plays.
