Yea, it was deliberate, and payback is a bitch. Julian Edleman did the exact same thing on the drive before to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Therefore, we ran a pick play and Wes Welker proceeded to do the same thing to Aquib Talib.
FACT

What I thought. Bill is being bitchy about it when he runs the same routes all the time.

It wasnt deliberate to hurt him, But i do think this was an attempt by Welker to pick Talib, but to do it in a sense that made it not look so obvious. Every team does this. If you dont believe me, please wake up from your fantasyland right now. Belichick is mad because he lost, I am 99% pats has run a play this year similar to this one.

welker turns away at the last second to protect himself
welker is not the guy i would expect them to use in that capcity

I'm surprised no one seems to have mentioned that play. Now if DRC got injured on that play, I doubt anyone would have said it's intentional. This whole Talib thing is overblown, Denver played without their best DB too.

Couldn't happen to a better couple guys in talib and belichick.
Yup. shite happens. Maybe Sherman will be next.

So what it's football. Knocking the other guy out of the game gives your team a better shot at winning. Bunch of pussies.

Not reading through the last 2 pages so sorry if it's been mentioned, but the hit happens at the same time the receiver touches the ball. How is that a penalty? It's just a block. It's only a pick when you do it before the ball arrives.

New England also played without their best DL and LB. That whole team was decimated by injury. Denver is loaded. They could afford an injury or two. New England could not.

It was absolutely 100% intentional - there's no other reasonable way to interpret it. Whether he intended to hurt him, only Welker knows, but there's zero question the hit itself was deliberate.

Pretty shite thing to do of that little elf. Game would've been a lot different IMO.

Of course it was. You're supposed to block for your teammates, that's how you gain more yards.

quote:Agreed, and every offense lineman on Denver should be fined on that play as well because they all intentionally blocked the d-lineman. Dirty dirty blocking team

Nothing dirty about it. They're running mesh and New England is playing man. Welker is running his route and braces himself for contact.
