Might as well make college football a 5 team league then.

Of course it's not.

What about the other sports, do they get to pay players or atleast get full scholarships?
If so, where is that money coming from and how can they justify paying them if the school's aren't making money off of those smaller sports?

If you play a sport that no one gives a shite about (tennis, etc.), then you probably aren't going to get any money from boosters. Every player (regardless of sport/gender) should be able to make as much money as they are personally able to. If you suck, then you aren't going to get paid.

Congratulations, you just opened a whole other can of worms with the Title IX people.

How do you know who does and doesn't suck when they are coming out of high school?

Yep, nothing could possibly go wrong by giving boosters even more power.

Do honestly think booster's money won't be regulated if made legal?

You sure seem to be someone who is willing to tell universities what they can do with their money, no?

I love the people that just jump on this players are taken advantage of bandwagon. Let me pose a different player to maybe make you see the other side of this.
What about Jordan Jefferson #9 jerseys? Why did that Jersey sell? The player or just the fact that he is at LSU and is the current qb? How should the profits be divided up on that compared to a Manziel or Tebow? Are we really gonna start down this road? So how long should Trindon have gotten royalties before we switch that payment to Mett?
And you can't say they have to do this. They don't. they could choose to bypass college. It is not the NCAAs responsibility to provide that guy a choice. Why doesn't the NFL have a minor league?
And doctors go to school for a lot longer with no guarantees either. With no one providing for food or health.

I think A&M only made something like $55,000 off selling #2 jerseys last years. It's not as much money as you would think.

How much did they made off of Johnny Football gear?

Are you suggesting that they sold shirts in the bookstore that said "Johnny Football" on them?

And yet of all the millions made off of him only A&M(and the NCAA) got those profits.
profits? or revenue?

I know there was a study or something done that said Manziel was basically worth something like $35mil worth of free advertising/marketing for A&M. So if you want to go that route and crunch all of those numbers, I think you'll find that he was grossly "underpaid".
that's a bullshite standard, though. lebron made the heat worth a lot more money and he's compensated quite well

without going to A&M and having the chance to play football, Johnny Manziel is worth minimum wage at this point, without a college degree. Arguing about how much money he made A&M and how much money A&M made him is retarded. Neither can ever be quantified perfectly.
The bottom line is that people who just say, "pay the players" do not even know how much the University already provides for them. I'd love to see how much an LSU football player is compensated compared to the amount that every other student pays to go to school there.

What about if players can only make money off their name if they make some sort of all star team? Be it league, All American, or even an all freshman squad.
Or the player has to be a junior.
