If you're the optimistic type, here's this...
If you're a pessimist, Lance McCullers was also diagnosed with a forearm strain before he had TJ. Soo...

Dusty Baker said Justin Verlander has a forearm strain after being seen by doctors and is shut down for a couple weeks.

Now Rome is reporting that JV has a forearm strain and is being shutdown for a couple of weeks and then reevaluate.
Wtf
Wtf

Rome better pray that's bullshite from Dusty.

If Rome missed this he has to be fired. He’s always been a douche but to report something this huge and be wrong makes him hilariously bad at his job

@JuliaMorales
Dusty said it happened Friday during Verlander's start but he was throwing the ball well and even wanted to stay in. He threw 73 pitches over 6 innings.
It could end up being TJ but Rome sure as shite jumped the gun.

No you didn’t he was 9 outs away from winning another one just months after not making those trades.
I know, I was in the front row behind the 1st base dugout. Last year was the chance and then like you said, Hinch fricked it up.
And neither of those players that he refused to trade, look as if they are ever going to contribute anything meaningful to the Astros organization
It's almost impossible to win more than 1 in a span of 3 years. They almost did it. I still rooted for them and thought they could win, just felt as if something was going to go wrong somewhere.
Go back and look at my posts if you can find them, I was saying the same thing 2 years ago. Go all in, hope you win more than 1. Don't play for 5 years down the road.

Yea they could reevaluate in a few weeks and decide it’s best for his career to hold him out, but Rome still fricked this report up

I was on board for that but then there was zero way to know what yellich would become.
Even with that said the lineup is fine particularly with yordan
I thought Yellich had 'it', but a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then
Yes, Yordan is awesome haha

Do you really trust our front office to be forthcoming on injury severity? Does the word "discomfort" ring a bell?

It could be that the “two people with knowledge of the situation” were giving Rome the raw and honest truth that they know he’s done, but Dusty and the Astros are not going to say he’s done until he goes through the whole evaluation process.
Publicly they don’t wanna jump the gun, but privately they probably know.

But they were right there without even trading those guys is my point. Not trading Tucker and Whitley weren’t the reason they didn’t win 2 in 3 years. Hinch over thinking and their absolute inability to drive in RISP at home in a World Series are the reason.
Agreed Whitley and Tucker don’t look like the untouchable guys that Luhnow was touting them as yet. I still think Tucker can play at this level and succeed. Whitley I’m out on, maybe expediting him to the big league roster and him working with Stromm the rest of the year unlocks something in him.
But Luhnow did go all in last year. He got Greinke who threw incredible down the stretch and shoved in his last three postseason starts and left game 7 with a lead. He gave up 4 dudes for Grienke that were touted and could have helped the team long term so he wasn’t playing for the future last year.

At the age of 22 Kyle tucker has a .857 OPS last year in the majors. The book is nowhere CLOSE to being closed on him. Whitley is a mess right now but still has some time.
Failing to trade either did nothing to the World Series chances in the last three years

Rome has never been at the forefront of breaking any big news on the Astros while he has been with the Comicle. The national writers usually get it before him.
Now, he may have some inside Astros sources considering he was their backup beat writer for Astros.com a few years ago one summer. But like I said, he doesn't usually break big Astros news and seems like if he had a big-time credible source within the organization, he would have had scoops long before this.
So perhaps there's a chance this won't be as bad as he reported.

There's no benefit in Dusty saying that if they already believe he needs surgery. We have had a disjointed season where JV's routine has been thrown off by a groin injury, COVID shutdown and changes in mechanics. It could very well be just a forearm issue as a result. If they were sure it was UCL, he'd just have surgery ASAP since he isn't getting any younger.

I’m ever the optimist, and waited a long damn time for Astros baseball so I’m going to go down kicking and screaming on punting on this season

Well, I suspect we won't see him again this season honestly, even if it's not UCL and/or surgery.

And if that’s for the best for him to be ready to go in April 2021 so be it. It would suck but I’d be okay with that
