Paredes has more value than both, IMO

His plate discipline doesn’t get enough credit

Bregman is a better hitter on the VERY few occasions he will commit to hitting oppo

Otherwise, they are the SAME player

If they trade Paredes, I sincerely hope they sign a decent veteran who can play 3B and 2B in case of injury. You don't want shitty Nick Allen playing every day and you cannot trust Brice Matthews yet.

Especially in a lineup essentially devoid of plate discipline.

For each team’s need based on roster construction today, I think Duran and Isaac is at worst a push.

Both are good players. Reading Red Sox fans on Twitter they are adamant it would take Isaac, BA, and a prospect for either Duran or Wilyer which doesn’t feel right to me. They also keep floating Bello for Paredes. Can always use starting pitching but that one doesn’t make a ton of sense to me unless you immediately look to flip Spencer or Blubaugh for an outfielder.

It’s fascinating how perfectly matched up Red Sox and Stros are to make a deal.

Duran would obviously be a boost in OF production at CF position, but he played mostly LF, and we can manage there.

Let's just say he's a full time CFer, is he a full time hitter? His numbers say he is a potential platoon player. Look at his splits.

Then there's what you give up in Paredes, who's production was in only 100 games compared to Duran's in a full season. And Paredes is no slouch at 3B defensively.

I fail to see how can you even fairly swap them, much less give them back more in a trade. Look at their BB/K ratio too. Screw potential. We already got the better end of this trade obtaining Paredes.

Don't give it away.

I'm more so dreaming on Duran's 2024 season where he posted ~7 WAR and OPS+ of 132. There was some regression last year for sure, maybe the league found something, but he still posted a 114 OPS+.

He would play CF in Houston, they bumped him because Rafaela is just an absolute freak out there. Looks like he had 10 OAA in '24 starting 89 games in center. He has elite sprint speed and an very, very good arm so he can definitely handle the position.

But I'm for sure just projecting how I think Duran could help the '26 Astros and being dismissive of Paredes due to the logjam and being unable to move off Walker and it being a little unorthodox getting Isaac the at bats he needs.

Good discussion Hopefully, ultimately they can dump Walker and then find outfield help elsewhere. That would be the best possible outcome.

I think the one extra year of control on Duran plays a big part in Boston trying to squeeze more out of a deal for Paredes.

ETA: This article does explain why Boston basically has to trade Duran though (and tells us we'd likely get last year's Duran and not the 2024 all-world version): LINK

Yeah, no thanks

Completely not interested

Give time to our prospects and take your chances. Re-assess at the trade deadline

2027 will most likely be an abbreviated year anyway

I feel the same way. Plenty of ABs to go around with what we have.

Ramgers bolstered their staff. Five for one deal to get Mackenzie Gore.

Not sure how they’ll score runs or close games out but they got 4 dudes in the rotation that can really pitch

Seems like Parades is odd man out based on Espada’s “he’ll get reps at 2nd” comment. Sucks that we get a disciplined hitter in the middle of our lineup and we’re going to ship him off within a year.

All because the owner and his ex-first baseman front office stooge had to have a “proven”’first baseman, overpaid for him and now can’t get rid of him.

Longtime major-leaguer and current Padres starter Yu Darvish is contemplating retirement. A report from Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune indicated that Darvish had decided to retire, though Darvish’s agent, Joel Wolfe, clarified that Darvish has not yet made a decision. “Yu has not made a final decision yet. This is a complicated matter we are still working through,” said Wolfe

Framber’s got to be thinking “please retire, please retire, please retire.”

Shocking that teams aren’t beating down the door to sign our fat, man-child former ace for nine figures.

Chandler, stop being such a dumbass. The "infield situation" is, in fact, tenable if unchanged. While it may not be ideal, it is very workable. Dumbass.
