I don’t think the Astros are counting on McCullers at all.

His cousin Zhu Pun-Tang was said to be Hong Kong's greatest talent but his teammates always called him a pussy.

Astros: GM Dana Brown and manager Joe Espada are each entering their final season under contract, with Brown hired in January 2023 and Espada in November 2023. Earlier this month, Astros owner Jim Crane didn’t entirely close the door on the possibility of an extension for either Brown or Espada, but said “I think we’ll go through this year like we always do, evaluate it and then make the decision at the end of the year.” Reading between the lines, it certainly seems like the spotlight will be on Brown and Espada, especially since the Astros are coming off their first non-playoff season since 2016. While the team’s laundry list of injuries is a valid excuse for their 2025 letdown, some personnel changes might well be coming if Houston can’t get back into the postseason hunt this year.
Too soon to bring back the Jeff from soccer exile? Who do they bring in to replace Espada?

He belongs to fútbol now. He's happy.

Joe/Dana have delivered us getting swept out of the wild card round and missing the playoffs entirely.
They're on thin ice here.

Crane doeant have to worry about either one being snatched away by another team.

Mariners got better today adding Donovan.
Still not totally sure they’ve replaced the production Polanco and Suarez brought with Refsnyder and Donovan, but that will definitely be a pain in the arse lineup to pitch too again

Lip service because they think the fan base cares

You boys need to talk me off the ledge. I haven’t been this pessimistic about a season since the tank years.
The efforts to improve this team are a net zero at best. Obviously a healthy Alvarez is a positive, but they’re done nothing else to improve the hitting and they’ve decimated the bench by letting Dubon, Caratini and Urias go. They have nowhere to put Esock. Altuve is still good but is declining. The outfield bats have no power. None of the young guys are real needle movers IMO. Couple of decent pitching pickups.
I had heard we were in play for Donovan which I thought would have been a great acquisition. He could have played 2B at home with Altuve hiding in LF, then flip flopped on the road. Great plate discipline which is desperately needed. Alas, not only do we not get him but instead our chief division rival does.
They replaced our shitty hitting coaches with a guy whose team last year only scored 16 more total runs than the Astros.
Sleepy Joe is still the manager.
And they promoted from within to replace the head trainer of the worst medical staff in the history of ever.

I officially have no idea what the value of a dollar is as it relates to the salary cap and how to manage a roster in today’s game

Makes you think how Skubal’s arbitration hearing went this morning with paying Framber that kind of cash

It makes me think the owners are jealous of the NIL and portal and could care less about the league as it relates to fans and parity
We’re about to witness a bloody war with the only actual casualty being the true fans
But I’m ready for it. Old enough to say GTFO my lawn

That’s pretty much true across all three major sports leagues.
Your new QB is good? Congrats. Youll have to pay him $200-500m and completely handcuff the rest of your roster. In the NBA you have 5th-6th options making ridiculous money.
