Update, were a half game behind the Tigers for best in the AL. Were a game behind the Cubs for the best in the majors.
Idk I dont understand it but its real.

You knew he would pull Abreu w 11 pitches and whomever he went to not named Hader or Abreu would frick up
I used to think relievers were candy-asses for only going one inning, but them using Hader for 2 vs Seattle almost bit us in the arse last night and tonight. I am good with them going just 1 inning, no matter how few pitches they threw.
And I was good with Abreu pitching the 8th because it was Arizona's best hitters.

I would have left Abreu in
I expected King to struggle with the moment
Behind in the count. Figured walks, not hits
First time I’ve yelled out loud at the TV for an Astros game this year. My dad passed 3 years ago in about 10 minutes from now
It was heavy on my mind. Brought me to my first game in Houston 50 years ago. Guess I had more riding on it

Best bad team ever.
It is quite amazing actually. As horseshite as some of these guys look on paper and baseball cards, they have all done something to contribute to winning at some point.
-- Short was a huge part of 2 Dodger wins and had the walkoff vs Texas
-- Matthews looked awful at first but is dragging his nuts all over Arizona batting and fielding
-- Hummel had the HR vs Philly
-- Trammell had the huge walk as a PH tonight and had a big game Sunday in Seattle
-- Dubon has played every position they have asked him to and is pretty good at all of them and occasionally gets some big hits.
-- Walker has come to life
-- Altuve has had a good month when they needed it most
-- Big Dic Vic has been hot in July, playing well above his career numbers.
It takes a village to win, especially if some of the villagers are suspect most of the time.

using Hader for 2 vs Seattle
I’ve been traveling a lot and only kept up on the app for the last couple of weeks through the Seattle series. I saw the tying run score in that game on what looked like a HBP. Did they review that? The batter even winced in pain.

They did review it. Ball definitely hit the knob of the bat and was in play. If Hader fields it cleanly, they get the runner at home, plus the batter. But Hader bobbled it, probably because he was like "WTF is going on", and only got the out at first and the tying run scored.
But Hader went 2 innings and threw like 38 pitches. He didn't pitch Sunday, then pitched last night and got the save, but his stuff wasn't sharp at all.

Thanks. Yeah, the app had the highlight but didn’t go into the review. Sure looked like it caught part of the hand.

He’s definitely been shaky in the last few weeks. Not complete implosion but just not dominant like he’d been.

He looked pretty good in the 2 innings vs Seattle, but it was clear it took its toll last night

Brice has been the guy the last two nights, great defensive play to end it after the massive tank to take the lead. Big balls performance from Framber to go 7 innings and hopefully let the majority of the arms rest.
Not much to say about Chas, he just looks completely overmatched at the plate AND in the field right now. He was always a high strikeout guy, but for the first few years of his career, he was able to be productive. I’d still like to think he needs reps to get back in rhythm, but know that’s likely not the case. If not for the injuries, he’d have very little shot at getting much playing time.
Nice to have a game today that doesn’t start so damn late, may be able to watch it all live rather than early the next morning.

Left handed hitting second baseman is hyper specific, right? Pursuing a top of the rotation starter may indicate an issue with Diesel?

Mullins seems like a no for me, dog.

Houston Astros: Adding, but not all-in
Biggest need: Left-handed bat
Best fit: Cedric Mullins, OF
The latest: The Astros are running out lineups with Victor Caratini hitting third. It's one thing to have moved on from Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman over the winter, and it's another to have essentially not had Yordan Alvarez for the entire season, but the Astros continuing to win without Jeremy Pena, Isaac Paredes and Jake Meyers, too, is just ridiculous. This looked to be the year Houston would exit orbit and return to normalcy, and the Astros -- the winningest team in the AL over the past decade -- never stop, injuries and defections and trades be damned. For years, the Astros struggled to find an effective left-hander, and now, with Bennett Sousa, Bryan King and Steven Okert, they have three to complement lefty closer Josh Hader and lockdown setup man Bryan Abreu. Their rotation has been in a shambles all year, but their system has produced effective fill-ins and now Cristian Javier and Spencer Arrighetti are on rehab assignments. Once the left side of the infield gets healthy, the Astros won't need much, but Mullins -- who, since a scorching April, has hit .184/.230/.342 -- is more of a complementary upgrade than a game changer. Then again, like so many others, he could get to Houston and suddenly be the best version of himself.
Mullins seems like a no for me, dog.

Schwab floated the theory that theyre looking to acquire Frambers replacement with likely no shot at resigning him. But how in the hell can we acquire a top of the rotation pitcher with continued control?
