No, never cared for him but he does get a tip of the hat for how long he's lasted.

1) MJ is the GOAT.

2) Lebron is a top-2 player of all-time.

3) The first sentence is more debatable than the second.

4) I understand why people might dislike LeBron, due to his politics and a little bit of whining nature on the court. I find the amount of people who hate/despise him (and it seems to go beyond “sports hate” for some) or that’s think he’s “shitty” or an “a-hole” to be strange. He seems like a really good family man, has never been involved in anything criminal or scandalous (publicly, at least), hasn’t struggled with addiction, etc.

Granted, that’s the bare minimum to be a decent person in society… but that’s also kinda my point. He seems decent. And it’s relatively more impressive for a guy who came from an underprivileged background and was a nationally-known superstar when he was only a teenager in high school. Many of those situations (in all entertainment fields: sports, acting, music, etc.) turn out completely disastrous.

MJ seemingly has more vices and is much more of an “a-hole” (which is at least indirectly why he’s the GOAT… he’s a psychopath).

ETA: Also, the Decision was extremely stupid, but it was a one-time mistake that occurred more than 15 years ago. And he then went back and won that city its only championship since Jim Brown. If people still hold a grudge over it, then fine, go ahead, but probably best to just let it go by this point.

From a distance he seems pretty unlikeable. Hang out with him for a day playing golf. He might be cool

Like - NO. A lot of reasons, Not one reason, not two, not three, not even 6. There are a lot of reasons.

Respect and Admire his career - YES, to an extent. By raw accomplishments and stat accumulation, he is certainly a top 3 player in the league.

But where my respect stops, in a win or go home game 7, I don’t think of LeBron as a top 10 player. Many others that I would rather in a do or die game. That is the metric that I base Best Ever on and LeBron doesn’t measure up to others.

Yes. He is a rare transcendent (truly transcendent. The word is used too loosely) that came along during my formative years. An icon

Imagine someone asks you "yo take a pic of me with this book so I can post it and look smart", would you like them? He's one of the most genuinely unlikable people I've ever seen

No doubt he was great in his time, but just watch the videos from the last few years.

Not getting back on defense, then acting like he did something great when he’s all alone for the outlet pass.

Flop after flop after flop.

Endless bitching to the refs.

Etc.

A lot of players played past their prime, but they didn’t do that shite to that level.

LeBron is one of the best Game 7 players in league history. In eight career Game 7s, LeBron averaged 35 points (49% shooting), 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. His teams were 6-2 in those games and he hasn't lost a Game 7 since 2008, a game when he scored 45 of Cleveland's 92 points against a Celtics team who went on to win the title.

Kobe, who I'm sure is someone you'd take over him for some reason, averaged 22/6/5 on 39% shooting in Game 7s.

LeBron is a scumbag in a lot of ways (I would have banned him for life from the NBA after his tweet that subtly implied putting a hit on a police officer), but people have a tendency to let their opinions of him politically cloud their judgement of him as a player more than any other athlete I can remember.

Read this paste below - I can't imagine being anymore of a pompous, egomaniacal a-hole.

Sports Illustrated photographer Walter Iooss Jr. once described a photoshoot he had with LeBron (directly after “The Decision”):

"
It was huge. When LeBron arrived, it was as if Nelson Mandela had come in. Six or seven blacked-out Escalades pulled up, a convoy. LeBron had bodyguards and his masseuse. His deejay was already there, blasting. This for a photo shoot that was going to last an hour, tops.

This is how crazy it was: I wasn't even allowed to talk directly to LeBron. There was a liaison, someone from Amar'e Stoudemire's family. I would say to him, "O.K., have LeBron drive right," and then he'd turn to LeBron and say, "LeBron, go right."

No. As John Stockton says……Some people climb to the top of the mountain. Some people take a Helicopter.
Also, the whole flopping deal he’s got going is just embarrassing. Also, not interested in his politics.
