they should have another tough defense again this year.

they have to replace 3 starters on the O-line though.

another favorable schedule too:

Buffalo
@ Missouri
Florida Atlantic
Vandedrbilt
Tennessee
@ South Carolina
- Bye Week-
@ Kentucky
Florida
Ole Miss
@ Auburn
Georgia Southern
Georgia Tech

We own yall like Bama owns us. Hogs win again by at least 17. It's getting boring playing USC. Seems they come out flat every year and we coming firing. It's what we do when we play bama, we look scared and get our shite packed in.

They have a top 5 qb in college football and 2 of the very best WR and a good bit of talent everywhere else. I have absolutely no problem with this.

Hendo went personal as shite on Peej.

He let the old man get to him like any sort of adversity to Tony Romo.

Neither does interceptions. I'm simply saying that if you think OSU is underrated, that's fine, but you can't put that on the fact that they are returning 2 corners on a terrible defense

So because their backups give up a bunch of points and yards when Oklahoma St was up by 40 that means their starting corners aren't good

I honestly can't think of many other teams that could lose to Arizona State by 21, lose at home to Stanford, escape with a 2 point win at home over Minnesota, and give up 41 points to Arizona -- again, at home -- and be called a preseason #1 the next year. And they have to replace both Defensive Tackles and a DE and their Left OT (two of which were 1st round picks). We've had some pretty stacked teams return off some pretty impressive seasons, but I'm not sure we've even cracked the top 3 in a preseason poll in recent memory.

Frankly, I just don't see where the excitement for SC is coming from besides the media interest. I mean, 41 points to Arizona?

Its really not that hard to see when you take off the shades. 1st round pick at QB, 2 1st round picks at WR, a runningback who was unstoppable at the end of the season and they add a top RB/WR recruit who should make an immediate impact.

And a defense that gave up 41 points to Arizona, 43 points to Arizona State and 56 points to Stanford, and lost 3/4 of their D-Line. Plus, they lost the #4 pick in the draft at LT. This is not shades, this is where SC is. This seems on the surface to be another case of overvaluing the returning starters stat (without enough regard for how good those starters are in the first place), but to a higher degree than you see with most other teams.

The only thing (imo) that truly suggests a more successful season for SC in 2012 than 2011 is that Oregon and Stanford are likely to be not as good this year. And since SC already beat Oregon, the significance of that is limited.

Barkely may be "the real deal". But as many teams have shown time and again, QBs cannot do it alone. And they almost never play defense.

Don't worry King Joey, I'm not buying the USC hype either. If we learned anything last year, it's that ESPN can manipulate the shite out of public perception. USC will not be in Miami at the end of the year.

2007 was only 5 years ago

that was after losing the best QB in CFB, a stud WR, a solid WR, laron, and some other guys

and i think we were pretty high in 2008 even though our QB situation was a mess (and has been since 2008)

You realize all those things you described happened last year and not in 2012 right? Also that ASU game was early in the year when ASU were playing well, they started 6-2 and then quit.

That Stanford team you mock finished the regular 11-1, ranked #4. They had the #1 overll NFL draft pick, plus 4 other guys taken in the first 2 rounds and that game went into OT.

You also forgot to mention that USC also beat #5 Oregon on the road, when Oregon still had a shot at the BCSCG. Sorry LSU fans, you can't count Oregon as a solid win for us and not for others. Oh and when last we saw USC the were beating the high holy frick out of UCLA 50-0. Teams, especially young ones can improve over the corse of the season. Cherry picking a couple of bad games is nothing but bias on your part.

Sure, and points > turnover every single time, as you literally just typed.

Both of y'all are right, but I'll just add, I'd much rather give up 400 passing yards letting them drive but take away 3-4 extra possessions than give up 200, have no turnovers, and give up more points.

Okie lites defense, stat wise, was terrible except for turnovers, in which they led the nation most of the year. Extra possessions, which lead to more points, trump giving up yards all day.

Ok, honestly, who in here knows a DAMN thing about any of these teams NOW, not last year, and can form an educated opinion on the matter? I mean, we all know about USC, Bama, and LSU. I fail to see how everyone in this thread knows everythign about the entire top 25 posted. Seems to be people are just agreeing/laughing at the picks based on perception. ESPN probably didn't put too much effort into this preseason poll...why should we?
