No one is cutting Zeke and his $8 mil cap hit.

As he should. This is monumentally retarded.

Yeah because he’s more valuable on the team.

They can prorate that cap hit over the course of a couple years if they want or just take the hit for a season. Doesn’t effect them much either way.

I agree from a leverage stand point.

From a “honor your contract” stand point it’s fricking dumb.

Bell said he wouldn't play without a new contract. That's not nothing.

the roookie wage scale is why you don’t have Sam Bradford or Jamarcus Russell making 60MM gtd before he ever plays a down. That money saved under that cap goes to players who have tenure

the position it depresses the most though is RB, where careers are typically short and young players can have an immediate impact. the moral of the story is to never ever draft a RB in the 1st round regardless of talent. If he’s good to great you are going to cross this bridge before his rookie deal is up

I think of his stuff more from the player perspective though. If there’s a salary cap and a draft as it is then why do we also need to cap the wages of the largest part of the player pool? What percentage even makes it to the second contract in the first place?

So what? Let the market decide what a player is worth.

That’s the timeshare that they sold to the NFLPA but it’s done the opposite. It’s shortened the careers of vets because there’s a constant supply of cheap talent in the market

I’m okay for the rookie scale if you get rid of restricted FA, the franchise tag and shorten the deals or let the rookies negotiate how long they can sign for

He's a goner, Jones won't put up with him handling business in this fashion.

Watching this unfold is beautiful tbh.

He’ll get a deal with about two weeks left before the season. This is the last year with a cheap rookie QB contract, the O-line is oft injured and expensive, some of the Defensive guys are going to get huge raises soon.....this is their last best chance for a Super Bowl run before breaking up that O-Line.

How many games have we won without Zeke? What are Dak’s numbers like with vs without Zeke?

I don’t understand why more Cowboys fans aren’t begging to keep Zeke on the team.

As a Skins fan, I hope he never plays for Dallas again. But I just don't understand his demands. The guy is guaranteed to make about 35M over 5 years. He should already be set. After that he is free to hold out for all the money he can get. Will he really lose all his value in a year or two?

Shelf-life of running backs is pretty short. I'm not a fan of his approach, but it makes sense to try and get locked into some money while you can.

I didn’t realize Zeke was so young. He just turned 24 last week. He would have been only 20 years old when drafted in 2016.

He’s young enough to sign a 4 or 5 year deal this year, and still be under 30 when that deal runs out and he hits free agency.

It’s insane. You either need an elite running back or QB - they can carry the other who’s just “good.” Very few teams have both (Saints, Chiefs...)

Dak is good enough to win with an elite runner but can’t carry a team without much running like Rodgers or Wilson.

I just saw this. Elliot is scheduled to make about 4M. Maholmes is going to make less than 800k and is the reigning NFL MVP..
