Bledsoe won the AFC title game for them on 2001.

Yes he came off the bench after Brady got knocked out of the game. That has nothing to do with my point.

In 19 years together, the Patriots had SIXTEEN top ten defenses including SIX ranked either one or two.

No other elite QB in history has had anything in the same galaxy as that type of defensive gift throughout their careers.

End thread.

Plus, why is a Saban fan obsessed with trashing his mentor?

Pretty sure he's trying to make excuses for that bum, Mac Jones

Brees was pretty average until he teamed up with Payton, and that’s when he went next level.

1. Brees was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in San Diego before his shoulder injury. He has a breakout season just before getting hurt.
2. The season Payton didn’t coach the Saints, Brees threw for 45 tds and almost 6000 yards

You lose

In 2004, he was third in the league in QB rating and top 5 in most QB stats and was a pro-bowler.

He had a better season than Tom Brady

By pretty average you mean he took the chargers to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years? Also won the division and made pro bowl with them… I would say he was better than average

That is not true at all.

The average total defense rank for the Patriots during the Tom Brady era was 16.5. In the 19 seasons he was the starting QB, they had a defense ranked in the Top 10 just seven times. On the other hand, the defense finished ranked between #20-#30 nine times.

Then Jimmy G and Brissett went 4-0 when Brady was suspended.

They went 3-1. Their one loss was to Buffalo, who shut them out in Foxboro. Several weeks later, with Brady as the starter, they blew Buffalo out in Buffalo.

Let’s not talk about 11-5 in 2008

Let's talk about 2008 New England. They were virtually the same team that went 16-0 the year before (minus Brady) and played the easiest schedule in the NFL that season. They failed to make the playoffs.

What was NE’s record the next season with the same team AND Brady?

10-6

And in 2002 and 2003, he was terrible. He was also mediocre at best in 2005. Overall, he wasn’t good in SD.

Passer rating was less than 85, plus 15 or more INT in 3 of the 4 years he started.

Same rating at Brady from 2000-2004 (despite Brees playing injured in 2003).

And Brees had a higher rating than Brady in the span of 2004-2005

What I am hearing is Brees was better than Brady

Congrats, you played yourself

Same team? I guess you mean minus Richard Seymour, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi, Ellis Hobbs. Plus about 4-5 other starters and/or contributors.

The biggest issue with the Patriots is that Belichick is a terrible GM. Kraft needs to strip him of personnel control and if Belichick doesn't like it, tell him to kick rocks.

It was far more Tom than Bill.

Tom went to Tampa and won a super with a team that hadn't been to the playoffs since 2003.
