Have you been to a Z's game?
Better question, does he get what you mean by "Z's"?

NoLA would give a whole new meaning to the term, lights out pitcher.

That was a great joke

New Orleans is a great football city but I don't see baseball fitting into the culture. Having a baseball stadium downtown by the river would be awesome, but it would be a hard sell.
To not take demographics into account would be fool hardy. In Atlanta where the current stadium sits smack dab in the middle of downtown, a high majority in attendance are from the suburbs (hence why we are moving to cobb). The demographics of Nola and the limited amount of potential for population growth would kill chances for an MLB team.

The city would have to tear down too many "historic" builds to build a new stadium downtown

if you have to explain the joke, it's not a very good one

We're just not diehard for every sport like Boston, New York, etc.
Those cities also have slightly more people than New Orleans

Reason #2: The MLB doesn't want another embarrassing no-show crowd such as the ones in Florida.
To be fair if the Marlins had built their new stadium in Palm Beach County instead of Little Havana attendance would not be a problem.

The MLB doesn't want an embarrassment like the Pelicans where tickets go for 3 dollars on stub hub because of a shitty fan base

Yeah, it seems any and all buildings in NOLA are "historic", so no chance in that but it would be cool none the less. Baseball stadiums by water are always great parks.

Dude, I'm a Pels fan but even I'll admit that franchise can't get a solid following. Zero chance an MLB team could make it in NOLA.

I think attendance would be better if they didn't build the stadium on shithole Airline Hwy.
Or at least somebody built up some stuff around it, like restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.. There is literally nothing to do out there except walk across the street to McDonalds, and nobody tailgates.

Still waiting for them to finish that water park...

I remember seeing a buying power study showing which metro areas could support one or more of the big 4 professional leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB). MLB was BY FAR the most expensive and difficult for a city to be able to have as almost no cities that don't already have an MLB team qualified according to the study. There were quite a few cities that had no pro franchise that could handle ONE of the other three (Birmingham,Louisville, and others). New Orleans was fully extended with pro franchises in 2 leagues.

maybe it would be better if a little money was put into Zephyr Field... also they changed the dimensions. sure it was a pitchers' park, but the shape was unique to zephyr field. now it's just like every other park
