He plays well against a prevent D with no pressure.

When the defense is actually trying, he looks like a 4th string QB with 5 minutes left in a preseason game.

The story of this game as well as most of his NFL career. He looked abysmal until the Cardinals decided to play soft zone, and BY was able to dink and dunk it down the field. When they heated him back up again, he had no idea what to do and doesn’t have the arm strength to get the ball down the field in a hurry.

Young is going to be like Baker and maybe now Daniel Jones. Get away from a raging grease fire of a franchise and then show why you were picked where you were.

We greatly undervalue how important the situation they get drafted into is to their performance.

Add Gene Smith and Sam Darnold to that list.

I agree the situation matters far more than people realize. Hell, in an alternate universe, Patrick Mahomes goes to some dog shite franchise like the Jets and washes out of the league in 5 years.

Could add Drew Brees to that list as well. He wasn’t really a bust with the Chargers but he clearly wasn’t the answer for that franchise. Goes to the Saints, finds the perfect offense for him and becomes a HOFer. Granted his successor in San Diego had his own HOF career too so it really worked out for both parties to an extent.

I’m not sure there’s any qb in the league that could win on the panthers currently. They are just horrendous at every position

Just to get an idea how bad the Panthers roster currently is, PFF, have their offensive line listed as the best unit on the team... And ranked as one of the worst OL units in the NFL.

The Panthers defense ranked dead last in overall grade. Offensive line was one of the bottom three in the league. Skill positions ranked dead last in the league. LB core, dead last in the league. Secondary, bottom 3. Bryce is one of the 5 players on the team with a rating over 70. For comparison, the Ravens only have 3 starters rated under 70 and two of them are at a 69.

Young has been bad, but the Panthers top to bottom are a dumpster fire.

I’d normally disagree but Daniel Jones looks like a world beater in Indy right now. Quite a change from the middling waste of space he was with the Giants.

Bingo. Imagine Mahomes on the Browns without Andy Reid and Tyreek Hill his first few years. We’d view him as a bust.

Their owner couldn’t even building a practice facility without it being a shitshow and isolated a huge swath of the fanbase because of it. Then he had the gumption to ask for a brand new stadium right after and wanted the taxpayers to fully pay for it when he is third or fourth wealthiest owner in all of sports. Local government balked and he settled for $300 for “improvements” to the stadium which will amount to new bathrooms and a redecorated concourse.

The guy is a Pittsburgh native with zero ties to the Charlotte area nor the Carolinas at large and has made not so veiled threats about moving the team. Where? Who knows. Good luck getting people to give a shite about your pet project soccer team if you take away their NFL team because you are having a hissy fit. But hey at least you brought music back to Charlotte!

When you have this guy in charge of the team, is it any wonder that the team is arse? Legit worst owner in sports and that’s not a debate right now.

Oh, I'm from Pittsburgh and know all about Tepper. He was a minority owner of the Steelers and everyone was glad when he got out of the organization and town.

That practice facility debacle is a perfect situation to describe how he operates. Unbelievably bad owner that wants his hands in everything, yet doesn't have the skills or knowledge to be any good at leading a sports franchise.

This is completely off topic, but it drives me nuts that with MLB expansion between Raleigh and Charlotte, word is they would likely lean towards Charlotte because he'd likely be the majority owner. Please don't give this guy another franchise. Can you imagine him owning a NFL, MLS and MLB team. I wonder if they could all finish dead last in the same year?

Raleigh deserves it. Already have the 'Canes.. but I do wonder how they'd get new fans. People that are already Braves fans wouldn't just drop decades of fandom/ties. They may be able to pull people that have just been defacto Nationals fans.

That Bama "bust" Matt Jones beat the Saints and looked good doing it. All these busts you think are busts are mostly guys drafted by the worst franchises in the league.
