I think they will come to agreement eventually, especially if his performance on the field declines.

Question I have is: Do Rizzo AND Bryant stay in Chicago? If anyone stays I see it being Rizzo. I can’t imagine hime playing anywhere else

Boras has blown a few of these deals for his clients. I don’t think KB will see 200 million.

I don’t know the details of the offer but turning down $200M never seems like a good idea for an athlete.

Rizzo will only have made $41 mil in his career once his contract ends as a 32 y/o. Which is nuts if guys like machado and Harper flirt with $30 mil per year

I can see them extended him to get him paid a bit more and make him a cub for the rest of his career

Why would Bryant wait to see what Harper gets? No way Harper gets big time money right now he just had a very questionable year.

If you bring up Rizzo how about we bring up Heyward, Darvish, Soriano, etc. It goes both ways.

Bryant had 2 amazing years but his last 2 have been extremely underwhelming and no way worth even $200 mil. Maybe he still gets it on hype. But he’s taking a big arse risk not signing for that much at this time.

Bryant also is getting a ton of national exposure that’s worth a lot as a Cub and not many other teams can offer him that.

Everyone knows the Cubs held him back but turning down 200+ million dollars is a bad choice. As soon as you sign , it's guaranteed. What if he continues having shoulder injuries? What if he stays healthy but only hits .270/.320 with 20 home runs the next couple years?

He was worth almost 7 WAR in 2017 and he was clearly injured a lot this year.

The Athletic has an article today that cites a source close to the situation as saying this is simply not true....just fyi

That article yesterday was very vague.

Yeah saying his 2017 was underwhelming might be the craziest part of an overall absurd statement

Actually no it’s still the part about Harper not having a chance of getting big time money
